| Quote Matt23="Matt23"One of the clearest reds I've seen for a while. A high, late swinging arm, caught Laffranchi right in the mush. I'm unsure where the argument is to be fair, and it's all coming from people who were at the game. Obviously didn't get a good enough view of the screen.'"
Then why all the booing of the ref ?
It was very loud.

The ref always gets booed when we lose, whether they sent one of our players off or not.

| Just watched the recording and definitely a red card. McIlorum has become something of a liability recently and on recent form isn't going to be missed the next few weeks.
As much as Wane wants to be his own man, he could well do with taking a leaf out of the Maguire book of coaching and keep his effing mouth shut.

No they don't. Sometimes it happens that teams turn up who want it more, or we play like donkeys. Or there's just a good game of running rugby. Unfortunately we're lumbered with useless pr*ks like Child & Alibert who should never have been given a whistle in the first place.

| not read all of this thread so forgive me if i repeat someone else but i think it probably was a red but ive also seen certain players let off with exactly the same, i mean players like morley do at least 1 high tackle every week and never get sent off or suspended thats the difference. i'd like to see the differential between penalties conceded for high tackles and those sent off and its the same for those that throw punches because every time ive seen a wigan player in a fight or punch up he's been sent off or suspended but thats not the case for other players in other teams WHY?.
1 more thing how come a swinging arm is a red card but elbowing ur opponent in the head while he is on the floor isn't.

I've just watched it too. He got what he deserved. Strangely enough I actually mentioned this a month or so ago, it was a "car crash" waitng to happen.
He deserves three or four matches for being so stupid.

| Quote Albion="Albion"Embarrassing reaction, and every Wigan fan I talk to on twitter agrees with me.
How anyone can say that wasn't a sending off clearly needs to sleep on it and watch it again in the morning: clear red card.
Perry was lucky to stay on I have to admit.'"
Don't you see the irony of your own post? The fact is you can't defend the sending off and then say Perry was lucky to stay on. There's either consistency or there isn't. In this case there definitely isn't; either in the decisions or your post! I In addition I could point to tens of similar incidents this season that haven't resulted in sendings off, or even sin-binnings in most cases. It's been the same with punching. The week after MM got sent off for a single punch, Paul Wood didn't even get sin-binned for a much worse one! The simple fact is, whether the decision was a correct one or not (and that is open to opinion) there is no doubt whatsoever that the consistancy and standard of refereeing this season has been the worst I have seen in over 20 years of watching rugby. Childs performance tonight, with or without the sending off, was of the same standard we have come to expect from SL referees and, in my opionion, has stared to result in situations where games are efectively being ruined for thousands of paying spectators. Something needs to be done. Unfortunately I strongly suspect that the situation is not set to improve anytime soon.

| From a neutrals perspective, that was as clear a sending off as you're ever likely to see; late, high and intentional.
I don't know why anyone's surprised - as talented as the player is, he's been an accident waiting to happen; cost you the game there and could have further repercussions when he cops an inevitable 2-3 match ban.

I'm happy the head coach of WRLFC agrees with me and isn't a soft ar$e like you.
Perry was just as bad but strange how when its a Saints player it suddenly becomes part of the game?
RL needs to seriously evaluate the direction it's heading in.'"
It seems you and wane are the minority but everyone is entitled to their view, I'm sure the RFL will deal with it on Tuesday.

| I expected this thread to be about how embarassing it is to watch attempt to referee a game of rugby league. The players don't respect him.

| I don't see how people can disagree with this decision. Watch it back on Sky and you'll see that it wasn't a tackle, the only contact is Macillorum's forearm on Laffranchi's head, no attempt to make a tackle whatsoever, no "1st impact on the shoulder", not even a shoulder charge, it was just a cynical late assault on a player looking the other way.
