I'm pretty sure Clare Balding pointed out yesterday on BBC One's coverage that Wigan V St Helens is technically only one of two derbies in the world.
The Earl of Derby lended the name officially to the Epsom Derby in Horse Racing and Wigan V St Helens in Rugby League.

If your defention is correct explain to me why Cardiff v Swansea is also called a derby.
If your correct about HFC V HKR been the only derby in SL i can honestly say no one cares about the game apart from the supporters of those clubs. If we play Leeds its a bigger game than the Hull Derby. In terms of importance to SL the Hull derby is up there with Cas V Wakey. |
