So you've decided a try that wasn't scored would have been better than a length of the field try.

One of the best rugby league pictures ever. Danny McGuire deserves to be flat on the ground I loved seeing that when he did it.

| It's a shame the four pages of this thread aren't all about fans of all teams appreciating what was without doubt a fantastic try. As i watched it yesterday I thought it was reminiscent of Kevin Iro in his prime. I've just got home and watched the Offiah and Tomkins try thanks to the BBC links posted here and I have to say, very strangely, I agree with John Kear! Tomkins try was every bit as good as Offiah's and very similar.
A fantastic try and worthy of watching again and again.

Would have been the operative word. Just because you don't agree doesn't mean my opinion will change.

FAIL
Atkins try was simply rank bad tackling, and no one to beat, Tomkins had ten times more work to do to finish his effort.

Ofcourse, the exact same rank bad tackling was the reason tomkins scored then wasnt it. Afterall it was the same teams shoddy defense. In your own words, FAIL.

| JT's try wasnt better than offiahs , but at the same time , offiahs wasnt better than JT's
very different players
both equally as good as each other in my book
reasons ,, did anybody think JT would be tackled , i certainly thought he would be caught at some stage , most people thought once offiah broke the initial line he would go all the way

I thought this but reading yesterdays programme Offiah talks about going through the gears and having to get past Alan Tait who he knew would try and show him outside, when you watch that try back you can actually see Offiah accelerate to get past him although he still had to go on the outside.
I like JTs try for the way Sam created the space for Joel, the hand off on McGuire, but more than that I liked the way Joel split Peacock and Webb. You could argue that Peacock wouldn't have caught Joel but both he and Webb got very close to hime until he darted through the middle of them.

A hand off on Maguire and making Peacock and Webb look stupid isn't rank bad tackling. It took some scoring and you know it.
Like I said originally, you FAIL, after all, you are a y fan.

Atkins handed off two players after scooting from acting half, so it was just as good as Joel's by your definition. Never have i said that it didn't take some scoring, but so did atkins. So, Once again, you have FAILED. Yes i am a y fan, oh no, what an insult, we are so y that we have still got a chance of beating you to win the league leaders shield. moron.

| A confession. When JT set sail for that try I thought "Oh no, he'll take the wrong option". I am still far from convinced about him at centre.
I was delighted to be proved wrong. He took the try superbly, it was a breathtaking combination of strength, pace and footwork.
It was one of the all time great Wembley tries.
I'm still not sure he's a centre. But I do know one thing: only a great player could have scored that try.
Well done Joel, congratulations on writing yourself into RL history. People will be talking about that try for a very, very long time.

| Reminds me a lot of the try which Tomkins scored vs Wakefield last year (the game when paint allegedly dried). Feel sure that score was a big influence on Maguire picking him at centre this year. Yet another example of excellence in coaching.
