True, but it would have been a lot better if all those ball steals had been correctly given, instead of being ruled knock-ons against us.
Agreed we still should have won, though.
I blame Pat for missing that first conversion - a draw would have done us.

| Quote: Rogues Gallery "Apart from Pryces kick(and he was put into that position because of poor halfback play and a dreadful pass from Marsh) with about five minutes to go I thought he had a decent game.
He took his try well, got back to make tackles and took the ball in well.
What do people want?'"
All he did was fall over the line for the try.
He is never a winger in any way shape or form. He has as much pace as Welland and all he has going for him is he is big.
What he was doing near the end when he tried kicking the ball away, missing, and falling on his backside, well.

| We lost last night because we were awful. It's as simple as that.
I still say Bentham's a biased sod though.

| Quote: Conroy "We lost tonight because we failed to make our pressure pay.
We lost to Saints for the same reason.
We lost to Bradford and Quins because we took our foot off the gas instead of blowing them off the park (as we did at Hull)
Even though Bentham wasn't the ref, we lost to Wire because we failed to make our pressure pay. Simple as that.'"
You lost because you kept dropping the ball and not finishing off breaks. Neither of those are down to Bentham. You were all over Hudds but couldn't score.
Did I imagine Bentham binning Kevin Brown and you not being able to score whilst Hudds were down to 12?

To be fair, they were only down to 12 for 1 play. They then got reduced to 11

| Bentham was awful but then again so where we. Even allowing for Bentham we should have won quite comfortably.

| Quote: Conroy "Said at kick off to my Dad that should we lose the reason will be either Bentham or Pryce.
Fast forward to fulltime and a number of people blamed Pryce and a number blamed Bentham.'"
Neither were to blame for the result.
Bentham aint biased against us in any way that i can see?
We just happen to lose when he refs. Spooky, but no conspiracy!
Pryce is just Pryce - And will always provoke the reaction that he gets (whichever team he plays for).
Bottom line is that this game was almost a re-run of the Wire match.
We battered the hell out of them for 40 mins - But didnt convert enough chances on the back of it - Then panicked, and looked devoid of ideas once Shuddersfield built some pressure in the second period.
I think thats the biggest worry for me, going into the playoff's.

| It was a cracking game but felt that Wigan should have really ground giants down when they were down to 11 men, but looking at the points difference both teams up there for best defence so it was always going to be tough, just hope we don't get a Wigan backlash on Sunday, really thgink you need to save your best match for the season the week after against the Bulls lol...

The reason we didnt capitalise on the 11 man part was because we lost fielden for those 10 too and he was having a great game imo.

I think we just lost sight of what we do best. Aggressive defence and quick attack. We got sucked into a 'we are harder than you' battle last night and forgot to play rugby. Although it was great to have a bit of biff back in the game, we simply did not respect the football enough and tried to score on every play instead of building pressure. How often did we get to the last tackle? when we did get there our kicking game (in general more than attcking wise) was awful , more often than not going straight down hodgsons throat. We were too ellaborate in attack and too many times just dropped the ball on an over complex play. Hudds tactics were spot on- disrupt our gameplan(niggle etc) and have a great kicking game. They mixed up their kicks and our centre/wings were all at sea.
bentham was useless(as always) but i didn't see him ,miss a tackle or drop a pass. Some of out top performers had mediocre games(Lockers,Tommy), but we can't expect them to be world beaters every week. Marsh/pryce combo didn't work and the backrow in general was poor.
Hopefully this is a blip and not us going backwards. It may well do prove to have a galvanising effect but i would prefer for us to go into the play-offs in form rather than limping over the line.
All this said, if someone had have offered us at least 3rd 12 months ago how many of us would have taken it?
