| Born in 1994, I missed most of the glory days and had to unfortunately endure the time when weren't as good shall we say.
My ultimate legend was Adrian Lam. Possibly the most underrated player in Super League when he played in my opinion, and being a scrum half, I used to copy every aspect of his game.
Others include the usual:
Farrell
Radlinski
Dallas
But I have to say that Pat Richards is slowly becoming one in my eyes, nothing but 100% every game, and I don't think I've heard him complain about anything while being here.

| Sullivan (never saw him but on reputation has to be number one)
Boston
Edwards
Bell
Farrell
Radlinski
Botica (best goalkicker i have ever seen)
Henderson Gill (had that x factor and the smile)
Andy Gregory (best scrum half we have ever had)
Graham West (led by example on and off the field)
Current crop of players that are heading for legend status are Sam Tomkins, Sean O'Loughlin & Pat Richards

| Quote: nikos "brett Dallas only retired 2 years ago, so most of us saw him play yet its page 3 before he gets a mention. Will he even get a mention in 5 years?
He was a good player who gave his best for the club, but a legend? no
Barratt - legend? dont make me laugh! and how dare you mention him in the same sentence as the Bostons, Edwards and Hanleys
almost 2 seasons for us (though did seem to miss more than a few through injury - correct me if Im wrong) and for many others went MIA. While he was often the best player on the pitch for us (which TBH was not hard), the odd flash of brillance, a legend does not make.'"
Without Barrett there would have been no semi finals and possibly no play-offs. He was injured for about a month when he arrived and so it took him that long to get into gear and after that he was fine. He dragged a poor team further than it had any right to go.
In his first season he won the players-player award (that is now the vote that gets the MoS) so the players reckon he was the best player in the competition.
As I said we didn't win owt with him here but if we had, he'd as much a legend as Kenny and Kenny is definitely a Wigan legend IMO.
Dave

| What about Eric Ashton. I know he was St. Helens born and bred but he gave his all for Wigan and country over a great many years.

He'd certainly be in my list, along with several others from that era.

| Glad to see someone mention Graeme West. Its hard for forwards to work their way into these lists because they're simply not the flash harry backs. What about Andy Platt or Andy Goodway?
As an outsider I'd certainly suggest Bell, Offiah, Robinson, Edwards, Hanley.
A few other names to conjure with - where would Lydon, Gregory, Hampson fit?

| Quote: Jimmy Birts Lives On "Agree with Dave O. If Barrett had've dragged us to an unlikely Challenge Cup win he'd have gone down as a legend like Brett Kenny.'"
If Barrett had played in an half decent team he might have approached legend status, but he didn't.
When you have watched the game over a long period you get to realise the distinction of good players, excellent players and Legends !
I'd put Bill Ashurst into the legend status too. He would kick them to death with his touch finding today and the 40 - 20 rule.

Certainly a legend.
Not in the top 5 centres I have seen at Wigan but certainly the best captain.

Maybe Platt. Can't quite see Goodway, as much as I liked him. What about Phil Clarke or, my own favourite, Denis Betts?

If Craig Smith had been here longer, he could have been on this list. Remember him carrying our pack through that play off game against Leeds in 2003.

I have come here to chew bubblegum and kick ass, and I am all out of bubblegum.
Don't you struggle. Don't you fight. Don't you worry, cause it's your turn tonight!

| Certainly at present I feel Pat will go down as a legend. He's the front runner for Man of Steel in my eye's, and if can win that along with a couple of trophies he'll be classed as a legend. After all he's the best winger in the comp at present and has been for a long time, in fact he's probably the best outside back in the comp.
