| I have a great idea that will show that the club are 'with it' with the youth of today and actively engaging in 'envelope pushing' social media and fan interaction.
There should be NO announcement at all about venue. We could all buy tickets for a match with no declared venue, possibly queueing overnight and being interviewed without our false teeth in for breakfast tv.
The club and the RFL could then maximise their youth culture potential by getting the 15,000 or so ticket buyers to congregate in market square as a 'flash mob' doing a choreographed dance with flags hung from nearby buildings to create an atmosphere. Half an hour before kick off a message could be bluetoothed out naming the venue with a free 'Walkabout' T-shirt being given out to the first 50 fans to make it to whichever stadium is named, lead there by the Brigantes walking along the middle of the main arterial route carrying a flag, and singing abusive songs. A minutes silence could then be held, observed impeccably by the rugby league family, for anyone trampled underfoot in the stampede to the stadium.
The event could be sponsored by Easirent, with no money changing hands for the free advertising but players that are homegrown and have been at the club more than 10 years appearing on a transit van rather than a standard Bedford rascal. All money could go towards our new stadium.

| Quote: Pie minister "Bored with the wait, the debacle, the embarrasment of it all.
Planned to go, but not now its a joke dont like missing but dont see why peoples plans should be put hold waiting for a very simple decision'"
That's the problem though. It's not a simple decision. While there's money involved, people will want to get the best deal for themselves. Logistically, it is a simple decision: 2.30 on Saturday at the DW.
At the moment, the ball really is in DW's court. If he digs his heels in then it comes back on us to look for alternative venues.
I can't see Whelan caving in though. I doubt he would want to undermine his own "24hr rule". If he did it would only set a precedent for the future when this situation inevitably repeats itself.

| We have become a laughing stock, come on Mr Leneghan show some leadership and announce a venue. Everyone on this site appreciated your efforts to secure a home tie to begin with, but now you just appear weak and indecisive. The prospect of a Saints v Wigan game has ruined by this charade

So we await DW to make his mind up , wait for latics result from this weekend to secure PL spot, whealan then digs his heels in to save face.
Don't have to be a rocket scientist to make a decision from there really, as if as others have said there will be an ever decreasing amount of tickets to be sold, the match itself will be put on at a considerable loss to the club.
The last time this happened, I think I'm right in saying the fans where told it wouldn't happen again! de ja vu strikes, very poor and sad really, especially as we as a town are asked to support both teams and this just drives a big wedge down the middle of that request

| we are not yet even close to the stage we were when we had to find a venue to play bradford in 2008 as then we had to wait until Wire had played on the 6th. If they won or drew we would have been away, they lost and we got a home tie which was 6 days notice............. we will still have 5 days next week to get tickets and we know it is on Saturday and will be at home or at least within a 20 mile radius...............

| I wouldn't be surprised if the venue isn't confirmed until late Monday night or early Tuesday morning. In the meantime I'm not going to get worked up about something I have no control over, especially so as I can't make it anyway.

Can't we have a Poll/Vote for who's had the Biggest over reaction on here please?

| As a fan that is considering travelling from afar for this game. I have to say I feel let down by both Wigan and the RFL.
The contempt for the fans of both clubs and also towards St Helens is sickening. Wigan expect Saints to start ticket sales on say Monday/Tuesday or whenever the hell Wigan and the RFL make this decision. For me personally I can not pick up a ticket from langtree next week. The club will probably not have time to post me a ticket. I can not take advantage of cheap rail travel because the game is possibly going to be held at Leigh and there is not much point booking if I do not know for sure i can get a ticket.
I appreciate there is an issue with football and realistically this could have been avoided if they had played the quarter finals on another weekend, but at the end of the day that is not Saints fault. Wigan should have been given to the end of say yesterday to name a venue by the RFL. If they could not do this they should have surrendered home advantage to us. Much as I would have hated such a scenario as I believe they would have turned up with a siege mentality and been seriously difficult to beat.
This was meant to be the tie of the round, and to be honest I think both sets of fans feel really disillusioned with the way they have been treated. I for one am pretty sure I will not attend the game now, whereas when the draw was made I felt really pumped up and excited about it.
Come on RFL show some bottle and make the right decision.

| the later the venue is named the more likely it will decrease the size of the crowd. We all know that it will be on Saturday and so those who can make it will as it is not the players fault and it is those players that we give our support to. If you are unhappy with Dave Whelan then boycott things that will have an effect on him and don't punish our own team

| Both Bilko & Leyther Matt have been very quiet on this subject. As they are generally ITK, would either care to amplify on what's happening?

Whats happening is the club are in talks with both HJ and LSV about which will be the best deal for Wigan. The game will be played at one of these 2 grounds

He, like me, will be sick to the back teeth of being asked about it to tell the truth but thats life! To be honest you all know as much as me.
