Quote: jonh "Now now, don’t get salty.

I was referring to people saying they won’t but a season ticket because of the poor performance of the coach.

Obviously struck a nerve though which is interesting.

Opinions can also be wrong.'"

Depends on what the opinion is on. If someone doesn't like the way a team plays rugby then that's a personal opinion and massively subjective.

Slightly ironic statement that you're belittling "fans" because they don't agree with opinion btw.

It really was a shame Hanley didn’t get the try I thought a solid showing warranted. That was much improved in the main.

Forwards dominated when youngsters came on, I was worried when Farrell was stepped and pushed off a couple times I thought their outside backs would give them the edge. Good to see Bibby get deserved plaudits. Chester complaint about innocuous challenge he’s worried about his job . Is Miller the new Gavin Clinch?

Quote: Darwen Warrior "Turned into a decent performance after a slow start. Thought Faz and Zak went well and Bibby did what he has to do with a minimum of fuss. Shame that Hanley didn’t ground the ball, that would have done his confidence a world of good but his time will come. A shout out for our young pack. The metres started to increase as the game went on and they have stamina, energy and channeled aggression to burn. They did it for most of the game without Bullock as well. Well done lads, great to watch.'"

Starting Props for me were poor. We put the young lads on and started to win the wrestle the intensity notably lifted.

Their second spells were much improved however I’d maybe look at giving Bullock a week in the stand for Clarke.

Hanley snatched at his chance, he should have scored, but great to see his offload not long after close to our line setting Hardaker free on a run. Nice to see his still had confidence to do that. He lacks the physicality at the moment but he is t letting anyone down.

Hardaker seems to have rediscovered his pace which he lacked since he joined us and despite the idiotic flick I thought Byrne was outstanding, my 1 and 2.

Smithies had his best game for us in some time despite the lose carry that put us under pressure.

I’m not belittling anyone! I didn’t reference anyone, as I said interesting though to see you take the comment to heart.

Tonight we did everything some fans were saying we didn’t do, ie lack of structure, poor defence.

Defence was outstanding, structure was top notch.

I don’t know what some “fans” are watching but it’s not the same team I’m watching under Lam.

Credit to him he’s sticking to the task. If he has a regular centre inside he may be able to show a more attacking threat. However he is getting physically dominated we have had short wingers before who have other attributes such as acceleration and strength to trouble the opposition.

The fact you wrote "fans", is belittling anyone that doesn't have the same opinion as you, which like I said is ironic.

I guess you can only be a fan if you live game to game and love Lam.

One game doesn't make or break an opinion on a coach.

Quote: NickyKiss "Was happy at half time and I’m chuffed now.

Hardaker absolutely superb. I might have to write him an apology letter for saying on here I thought he was done as a fullback. Great performance by Bibby as well and I’m really happy for him. The young forwards from the bench have been very good. I thought Havard and Byrne turned the tide when they came on.'"

Agree with all of that.
I feared the worst after the Leyth game but a decent second half performance that.

Glad that Byrne seems to be back on track. I didn’t mind his attempted flick pass in the first half because for me it showed he had the confidence to try the difficult pass even though it didn’t come off.

Hardaker looks a lot leaner than last season and he looks yards faster too.

We’ve beaten probably the two worst teams in the comp but with our excessive injuries in the backs I’m happy with the 4 points

I was happy to see Smithies play second row from the start. It’s a position I think I’d like to see him play more off, as it will ease him in to his career more than banging away through the middle.

The young forwards really are excellent. They’re probably being asked for too much, too young but they’re growing year by year. I thought Byrne started last year well and it was only COVID that ruined that start. He looks determined to kick on again this year.

No it isn’t. It is belittling people who are not real fans. Nothing more nothing less. I didn’t name anyone just a general observation.

Again interesting that you seem to take offence at that.

Correct one game doesn’t make or break an opinion. At no point did I say it did.

Haven’t seen the game due to other things but just seen the result. What a cracking result that is, considering we were talking on here that snatching a win would be a good result this one is superb.

I give criticism out easily enough but credit due where it absolutely is due tonight. Superb result, very promising IMO.

So basically you're saying plenty, but not actually saying anything when challenged?

Sorry for the confusion here, but quotes like

Quote: jonh "Half time...and it’s Lam out?!

Some Wigan fans are an absolute embarrassment.'"

That to me reads like you think fans whole opinions on Lam are based off one half of rugby?

Or saying that some people aren't real fans. The guy who didn't renew his season ticket is just as much a fan now as what he was when he had a ST.

What am I not saying when challenged? Who is challenging me?!

I said I felt some fans kicking off about Lam as a coach, during a game, referencing lack of structure in that game and poor defence are laughable.

Opinions are wonderful but to see a team play some wonderful structured and off the cuff rugby and shut out the opposition in the second half much like they did for most of last year and calling for the coach to be sacked is laughable.

I stand by that.

Once again you seem to be getting a bit salty here.

Right, fair enough.

Neither of us are going to change the opinion of the other, so little point carrying this on further.

We seem to be letting the opposition front load their effort (in the latest parlance) and then counter attack. The worry is that the best teams do not slow down that much in the second half and will not roll over.
I was quite pleased with young Hanley but he still looks like he would benefit from a season on loan to build up his confidence. Byrne looked full of energy and Smithies benefitted from playing a bit further out.
A big shout out to Isa for simply shipping the ball out quickly to give his winger space.
