The problem has been that some Wigan fans seem to be picking out relatively minor matters to deflect from the Hock incident. '"
There's currently a 14 page thread about the hock incident, so hardly deflecting from it, because Hock did that does it mean that any other incidents can just be forgotten about? and I wouldn't call it a minor matter. Fair enough Its not as serious as a gauge to the eyes but tripping is still a bad offence to commit.
Morley did attempt to trip sam. His leg blatantly moves towards sam but he'd already been penalised for the high shot. Of course steve and eddie didn't start crying about it which means it can't of really happened then?

I think he could help himself though, I put a lot of it down to him being a winner and wanting to anything it takes to win, which is a good trait to have. I've said it before and I will say it again, the boy is the Ronaldo of rugby league.'"
If Sam was trying to kick him in the head he would of took it clean off, it was point blank range for god sake. He tried to block the ball from being grounded, he did not attempt to injure any player in doing that. It was dangerous and obviously its not allowed and if he had actually stopped it being grounded then im sure he would of been punished.

If he was trying to kick Clarke in the face, he'd have kicked him in the face. He was trying to get his foot on the line to stop the ball going over for a try. As it was he kicked the ball and made minimum contact with Clarke's arm, and that was it. A very minor incident, blown up out of all proportion. I'll admit it didn't look good at full speed but replays show no malice in the slightest.
It seems to be getting out of hand. Grown men and women, many presumably with families of their own, screaming vitriol and abuse at a 22 year old, and probably not even sure why they're doing it. Certain players (McGoldrick springs to mind) are far dirtier and niggly, yet they don't get an ounce of the abuse Sam is taking.
As I said, if he goes to RU I'll be happy for him.

| All this fuss over Tomkins trying to stop a try. Something most full backs do, it wasn't like he even kicked Clarke, but hit the ball, potentially dangerous maybe, but something you see many times.
No mention of briers spoiling for a fight though, quick enough to jump in where he wasn't needed.
Yes a trip is an automatic red.

The fact that so many of you have convinced yourselves that every single criticism that's levelled at this precociously talented young man is born out of jealousy, is nothing short of astounding; it's like a cult.'"
People know he brings some of it on himself but he does things that plenty other players do week in week out but nothing is said!!!
If Sam had run in to have a go at Briers the forums would be full of it! Other way round nothing said!
If Sam had gone to have a "chat" with the ref like Monaghan did, to nicely slow the game down then he would have been a cheat!
If Sam had spoken to Silverwood the way Briers did after walking the length of the field he would have been slated
Raynor hits Tomkins high with a fist its celebrated, Tomkins sticks 2 fingers up hes wanting banning for life!!
And in the words of mr briers before the weekends game :
Briers admits the 22-year-old badly let himself down with his two-fingered salute to Leeds fans but says this situation snowballed long before Wembley.
"I don't think it's all from his doing," said Briers. "He didn't do anything bad to start off the booing and now that's all escalated and everyone's jumped on the bandwagon of this Wembley gesture."
Has a side to that:
Yes Hock was incredibly stupid and will be banned, but as much as some Wigan fans need to take off their "cherry and white specs" many RL fans need to take off their anti Wigan specs!
I dont see many people condeming Harrison and Kings use of the Elbow!
God forbid Coley would have been offside deliberatley and put an high shot in for good measure!
Who would you sooner watch play rugby Sam or Ryan McGoldrick?

You will probably get quite a few who will say they prefer to watch McGoldrick, such is their hatred of the best player in the competition.

I can remember when tripping was an immediate red card. Is it still in the rule book ?'"
No, it was changed a few years ago. God knows why.
It's more dangerous the the current fashionable offences the RFL have eyes on.

| He actually did it twice really. Once when not holding him and one other time he bent him over his leg to put him onto the ground.
Both times "the, supposed, biggest d*ckhead and penalty milker in RL" did nothing he just got up and tried to play on.

It's not a trip if you've got hold of the player. You're atually allowed (in theory) to use your leg then. Although in practice the chances of doing so without being penalised for a dangerous throw are probably fairly low.

However, it isn't Sam and the cameras were at the other end so we won't hear anything!'"
I'll let the rest of the rubbish in this thread go, but this slur needs addressing. Morley didn't flick the V's at anyone. He put his thumb up at a Warrington fan who had a banner which said "Mozza's number one fan" (he probably appreciated the support on his long-awaited return from a serious injury). This was then followed by howls from the Wigan fans who probably couldn't see this Warrington fan in their own end and just thought Morley was putting a sarcastic thumb up at them or something.
