I don't believe that for minute. Ryan Hoffman can't be spoken of highly enough at Wigan, not just by Maguire but by his peers also. If anything the Hoff seems more highly regarded than Lima at present.

Exactly what I've heard. Someone, I suspect, was on a fishing trip - so let's not bite any more.

Can't see the last comment after Hoffman became part of the leadership group.
As for Lima I was always under the impression he was abit more 'rounded' then what he is. He was stood directly infront of us at Wire the other night and he's got an athletic frame. He looks like he'll be able to do long minutes and it's high energy stuff he's putting in. He was all over the place in attack and defence and if he keeps that up he'll go very well indeed.
Made up with both of them so far and with guys like Finch, Richards, Fielden, Gleeson and Hansen still waiting to come back into the side things are looking pretty rosy at the moment.

| I haven't been able to get to any of the pre-season games, but am really looking forward to seeing Lima play.
It's been a long time since we had a prop who was like a talisman for the team.
Back in the days of Skerrett we had a player who could turn a game with a powerful driving run, bumping off attempted tacklers. One minute we were on the rack with the opposition dominating and the crowd nervous and the next Skerrett was charging upfield with the crowd roaring him on. Suddenly the whole balance of the game has shifted and I'm convinced his power and aggresion won us matches just as much as the tries of Offiah or the skill of Miles or Gregory. (To be fair SuperKel also got sent off a lot, which was less helpful!)
From what I'm hearing about Lima he looks like he will bring the aggression and sheer physicality to the pack that we have been lacking for a long time. Even though last season our forwards were more than a match for anyone we still had something missing.
Now the jigsaw is complete. This looks like one of the most powerful set of forwards in the history of the British game, you can argue about who the first choice team would be but in terms of strength in depth Wigan currently have unbelievable options. Even the great Wigan sides of the late 80s and 90s couldn't match what we now have in the forwards in terms of squad strength.
What a challenge though for the team to deliver on that promise, and what a challenge for MM in terms of man management because we have so many good forwards unless there is an injury crisis players will be left out who could walk into any other SL side.
I don't think its "crazy" by the way to talk about Lima being MoS. We have a number of players who are good enough to be targetting a level of performance which would put them in contention - Roberts, Tomkins and Lockers spring to mind as do Hoffman (who has a huge reputation - I'm amused by the pathetic attempt to rubbish him on this thread, we've obviously got them worried!) and for me based on what I've seen of him in the NRL Lima for me would be in that bracket.

Scully toweled him a few years back. Bailey didn't want to know at all.

| Quote: MadDogg "Sounds promising but a word of caution - Jerry Seu Seu looked awesome in his friendly game.
Don't read too much into pre-season games.'"
Sunday 30th January 2005
Edge Hall Road, Orrell
The squad had been on a pre-season trip to Florida and were facing a London Broncos team featuring Thomas Leuluai, Mark Tookey, Lee Hopkins, Luke Dorn and Paul Sykes.
The Wigan team coached by Dennis Betts included Jerry Seu Seu, Dennis Moran and David Vaealiki - Harrson Hansen was at centre.
I was under the stand listening to the majority of Wiganers chanting Jerry's name has he made some very strong runs at the London defence - i can remember thinking to myself that he would go really well in Superleague and it taught me not to read too much into pre-season games.
I can't help but get excited by some of the early reports though

He never does toe to toe, he's just a niggly turd that looks for a reaction.

Yeah I saw that on the net, it did look quite a while back though. 04ish I'm guessing? He seems to think he's a hardnut now he's older, it would be ace to see Lima batter him

| Sounds like a belting signing going on reports so far, looking forward to seeing him play on Saturday, and Hoffman.

| As if I wasn't already excited enough about seeing Lima play, this has ramped it up another notch.

| Only seen him at Salford so far but he looked quality - his reaction to Mickey Mac's bit of biff with one of their lads was brilliant and he put in some powerful hits in a decent shift. Just what we needed to add to the squad, I hope.
