| IF only Gleeson could have got a stronger tackle in on Smith before he broke..
But o well, on we move to Cas next Sunday, lets hope we can get back to form straight away and not dwell on this result too much.

| Quote: DaveO "You obviously don't watch Wigan very much. We are playing some very exiting rugby this year and our attack he been transformed from a very boring spectacle to something very good to watch. Watching us attack last season was awful at times. There is nothing negative about how we play this season.
What you are really complaining about is the other aspect of the game, the defence and frankly it's getting boring people going on about it because all it is, is good defensive tactics.
Dave'"
Wigan's defence is f*cking solid, really f*cking solid. I'll give you that, yeah your attack may be better but i think your defence sets the platform for that. Improved loads this season.

| Quote: back to back to back "I don't think you can ''use this loss correctly''. I don't see how you can use it. You played the conditions as well as you could, were just as good if not better than leeds but lost. What's madge gonna say? ''don't conceed trys in the last minute''?
The best thing your coach could do this week is give your players a rest, do some team building exercises to lift the modd and go into next week fresh.'"
There's two ways of going after a defeat like that, a team can either kick on and really knuckle down and concentrate on the league and continue playing well, or it can upset a teams rhythm and they can suffer a loss of form. It's now up to Madge to make sure we don't dwell on this loss and to make sure it doesnt up set are plans to be table toppers.
Quote: back to back to back "I don't think losses like that have a positive effect.
In recent years, look at when warrington have had last gasp losses to saints and look at how their form is dipped.
I'm not suggesting wigan's form will dip, i just don't think anything can be taken from this loss and it certainly shouldn't be used as motivation because it's not a good thing for the players to reminded of a heartbraking loss. This game needs to be consigned to the trash can of history as quickly as possible for wigan.'"
Wire's losses to Saints hit's them hard because it's such a burden on them, to compare today's loss to you, against wire continually losing to Saints doesn't add up.

It was the way we lost them though last min jobs like today, we lost to them few months back but not in the same way we usually do and we have been fine.
Some people on here were saying the Bradford last min loss would be a good thing as they would learn and not let it happen again just like what people are saying today, I agree with BTBTB it just doesn't work that way.

| we are a much better team this year than last yet the calling of players has begun. We lost because a try was let in in the dying minutes of the game (human error), not because our defense is completely awful, and not as a direct results of penalties. The penalties are a problem I do agree and im sure this area will be worked on. But we dont go from being a good team to being awful overnight. For what Lockers, Prescot, Bailey and Coley cost us in penaltiies they well and truly make up for in other areas.
In the last couple of seasons the effort was not there from the team - no one can say that now.

| Seems to me most of the team gave their all. Leeds are a champion team, you don't win 3 Grand Finals by accident, and champion teams will do you in the last minute of a big game.
Everything is so much better than it has been for years, though we still have to make that last step to win a trophy.
This is a side with some good young players who are learning fast.
My main concern is the front row; it's not a trophy winning set of props. I felt Fielden was poor again today, never really making the hard yards. We need a big rough but crafty enforcer, who can do the necessary without the ref noticing!

Exactly! Despite them giving the penalties away, I seem less worried this year as I always feel confident our defence is up to match any attack this year.
One more thing that struck me today was how much the players actually cared about the result. In years gone by, if today had happened to previous squads, there would be a lack of emotion, which I don't understand. Today they looked heartbroken that there defence had been broken and had lost the game, Sam was even crying! I know it doesn't seem much but it's things like this that make me feel better that the players actually care, rather than it just being their job.

I remember a lot of people on this board saying a year or so back " I can handle loosing if the effort was there" and other such statements. The effort was there and the emotion. We are going to lose games this year - simple as that. The league is very competitive. Ask Castleford fans how they felt loosing to Barrow? Look at how Hudds lost to Wire .Lets get this loss in to perspective. We are a very very good team!

| Apologies for posting this here as the other thread has been locked after decending into a slanging match, I went watching Saints today and have just watched your game on Sky+, I just wanted to say I was totally disgusted with Leeds' behaviour after scoring the last try and feel this is something the RFL need to look into. Bollocks to 'heat of the moment' the players, Smith in particular, knew that was the Wigan end and decided to take the opportunity to wind up the crowd.
What incentive is there to spend money going watching the game when you're liable to find yourself derided by supposed professionals' rubbing it right in your face? Respect campaign my big hairy ar5e cheeks! It's a 2 way street
Don't know if theres any way to pursue this i.e. complaining to the RFL or Yorkshire Police (who would probably tell you to jog on) but I know as a football fan that if it happened at a footy game, the Football Supporters Federation would have a field day!
Commiserations on your defeat today but I agree that it puts you in a stronger position for the league.

Why are you wishing Wigan luck ? Will you be saying the same when Pat Richards grabs a 50/50 ball to go under the sticks at Old Trafford to give Wigan a grand final victory over Saints ?
You can have a sensible debate on here without your toe nails sticking out their rectum.
