| The only good thing to be said about this affair is that we've clearly dodged a bullet.
If Edwards genuinely believes that he wasn't up to being head coach, then thank God we didn't end up with him in that role.
If, on the other hand, he's lying and he just used us as a marketing tool, then it says little for his integrity - and we're better off without him for that reason as well.
Time now to crack on and can find someone who both wants and is capable of doing the biggest job in British RL.

| Quote: 100% Warrior "Hardly surprising to us. I believed up until IL gave SE “time to think” (utterly ridiculous IMHO) that he was still coming.
We ALL now need to move on. The club needs to source a new Head Coach for 2020 and simultaneously start targeting players who will actually improve us and not ones such as Sammut/Isa/TT.
Two quality halves and solid props will be a good start. Get cracking Mr Lenaghan'"
I’m glad he’s not coming. And his admission of being under prepared is clearly bull, nobody loves Shaun Edwards more than Shaun Edwards.
I don’t see why you targeted Sammut in the above though. Before getting injured at Cas he was playing very well and making a good combination with George. The Catalan game and first twenty minutes of the Cas game (until he got injured) was some of the best attacking rugby I have seen from us in years.

| Well I stand corrected. Clearly no dual announcement.
Reading Edwards comments, they seem valid, if true. However you just don't know what to believe with him or the club at the moment.

| I reckon the club have not give Edwards a contract because they wanted to save money by seeing how Lam went, hoping he would do well and they could put Edwards off for another time and get Lam to do it cheaper, but it’s backfired. That’s just a theory.

| Pretty poor from Edwards to spin it as if he’s doing Wigan a favour as he wouldn’t be prepared enough and they deserve better.
I reckon he’s simply already got a new gig lined up in RU and that’s his preferred choice.

My own personal opinion is that Sammut should be nowhere near a Wigan shirt. He is a multiple time failed SL player being a mid Championship player at best. I will however be fair and say he was playing alright up until his injury, but for me his signing should have never been made. It might sound harsh but I don’t think I’ll change my mind on that either.
I just think and believe we can do a whole lot better than Sammut alongside some of our other playing roster.

| Let us be clear. Edwards was never coming. My source told me that last December and has been proven right.
This is Wendell Sailor all over again!

| He never was going to be prepared it was nonsense to think otherwise,I never wanted him here for that reason,of course you got the usual BS of “he’s done it in union”and that’s as wellbe be but this is league a whole different beast.
Lenegan has to take a large portion of blame for allowing the farce in the first place

| Remove Edwards from the hall of fame. He has now tarnished his reputation in Wigan to the point it is irrepairable. He was never as good as Andy Gregory anyway.

| The BS continues with Lenagan backing up Edwards tale that he doesn’t feel he’s prepared for the job rather than calling him out.
Never wanted him in the first place but just give us some honesty.

Can’t agree. He should be judged based on how he’s performed in a Wigan shirt not any preconceived idea of him. As I said, he was playing very well up until getting injured and made our attack click. It’s no coincidence that the Cas comeback came following him leaving the field.
I’ll admit I was a little disappointed when he signed because of rumours about Widdop and Johnson. But he’s played well in a Wigan shirt and that’s the basis on which I believe we should judge him. Big name signings don’t mean success, look at Tyrone Roberts.

I think Lenagan still has too much respect for him. Probably wants to try and salvage the reputation of one of his childhood heroes.

| Regardless who's to blame in this or the real reasons (aka money or the lack thereof, in all probability), can we not just try to concentrate on getting the season on track & not end up stressing about relegation - which is where i believe we're firmly heading. Whoever the next coach is (unlikely to be LAM, i'd say) we shouldn't be faffing about with that until we have a bucket of more points on the ladder.
