THE ONE AND ONLY "LATICS" , Ronnie Blair scorer of the goal that wasn't given Oldham Athletic v Man Utd 28th Dec 1975 "Nothing changes":41238.gif

Great atmosphere last night, and my Brigantes is the red and white bar with the quality badge on, lots of people like that badge, can any more of them be manufactured.

Quote: Pemps "Largely irrelevant what they called themselves or if they gave themselves a name at all. There'll always be someone to complain about them and what they do. Rugby fans, and it's not unique to Wigan, are the biggest moaners around. Like someone else said earlier, if this is the only thing we've got to moan about then things must be going well on the playing side.'"

Speaking honestly, it's this sort of dismissive and insulting attitude that I find to be a problem. I could expand on the initial reason I gave as to why the name isn't "irrelevant" (referring to reasoning given by the Brigantes themselves as well as my own reasoning) but you give the impression that you aren't up for the discussion. In fact, most discussions relating to the Brigantes--even ones conducted tactfully and couched in positive comments--are responded to as though they are off-limits. I said in my response to the PM I received that if some fans are feeling alienated by what they describe as elitist and divisive attitudes or practices then this should be addressed properly. Those reservations shouldn't just be dismissed or shouted down; that only exacerbates feelings of dissonance between what is essentially one set of fans--Wigan fans--who should really feel a sense of solidarity and community between themselves, rather than antagonism.

Under18ers would be more apt.

Or, the Fantas. They'll not manage to get served owt stronger for a few years...

Pointless asking questions on here.
They apparently have a rule not to post on here.

Before I recieve my usual snotty, almost offensive and abusive PM, I'm NOT slagging on that opening 2 sentences.
Just informing the masses who have questions.

A purple patch inspired on his home ground by man of the match WIGAN CAPTAIN Sean O’Loughlin produced three tries in an eight-minute spell just before half-time, and the GB Lions added two more after the break to maintain Smith’s 100 per cent record as Great Britain coach. Sat 27th April 2002 St Helens 12 Wigan 21 Edinburgh - Sat 4th May 2002 Celtic 2 Rangers 3 Glasgow (Carlsberg dont do weeks, but if they did.....) //www.internationalrugbyleague.net/:d7dc4b20b2c2dd7b76ac6eac29d5604e_36409.jpg

My appologies. The phone appeared to have completely ignored the word 'not'.
Corrected.
Again I was NOT having a dig at their decision to not post on here.
I've long since stopped giving opinions on the group.
Just repeating something I have read after being told also.

In all seriousness the atmosphere created on Friday was brilliant. Some of the new songs 'Kings of Rugby' 'Cherry and White' and 'We are Second to None' are real favourites of mine. They are true rugby songs and gone are the days of the wigan fans being associated with one song and a finger point. As far as I am concerned let them do what they want in moderation, there was no trouble on friday, they created a LOUD and vibrant atmosphere which urged the lads on.

One query what is the 'Wigan is a rugby town' song? That sounded like a potential cracker aswell.
Great game of rugby league. Fantastic atmosphere, Wigan were breathtaking and dominant in all areas for the first 25 minutes, coupled with us making alot of dumb mistakes, then fortunately they brought McIlorum on which helped us back into the game. I thought some of the tries we scored to get us within two we're out of this world stuff. Towards the end we had to force it a little and we had a few things go wrong, i.e Monas kick on the first for King and Solomona going off who was causing havoc. Wigan were clinical in their eventual execution of us. Proud of Wire today and gave us a little glimpse to the future. Silverwood was awful as per, but I expect no less. Tomkins is a world class player and by far the best english player in SL. Wigan are a champion side and would be a worthy winner of taking our title as challenge cup. Good luck over the next month and a bit.
:d7dc4b20b2c2dd7b76ac6eac29d5604e_23997.jpg

Dropkick Murphy..we actually saw and heard a mass of bouncing and scarf and flag waving to Dale Cavese that drowned out anything we could muster.. It stopped us singing our own celebratory songs, it died out seconds later when we accepted we couldn't be heard over the Wigan lot Celebrations muted from us, job done from them. Most fans who slag them off are jealous their own club's support is nowhere near that good - sally cinnamon..Why not discuss Wigan? It's a rugby league message board. Wigan are the most famous brand in rugby league - Tre Cool..Saints fans are hopeless unless it's a cup final or grand final. Wigan fans are so much more loyal and passionate - the flying biscuit..Wires havent been massively succesful over the years, but I've spoke to Brian Bevan And he spoke to me and i wouldnt swap that for Wigans History, ever - Ande..on the TV i could only hear the Wigan fans with about 10 to go - Saint94..Every team is in your feckin shadow, we all know - FIOS:d7dc4b20b2c2dd7b76ac6eac29d5604e_39110.jpg
