Roberts is an average winger. If he played for another SL team no one on here would say anything about him.

When we signed him we supposedly signed a speedster, he has no speed for a winger.
Don't forget not only fox was catching him, Briscoe was also. I'd be very suprised if he was even the fastest at Wigan.

He did ok yesterday, but I sometimes worry about his positional play in attrack he seems to be too flat to the centre instead of dropping back - and has a tendency to drift inside in defense.

When did Briscoe catch him?

Wasn't worth bring over from Aus, we have players of his standard over here who would have played for a lot less.

Hardly irrelevant, regardless of Fox being there he wouldn't have scored as Briscoe was catching him.

This once again emphases his lack of speed. Hardly the speedster we thought we were getting.

I would agree with that but Fox has to be the fastest in SL. It would of been interesting to see what Ainscough would of done if he played yesterday but I guess we will never know.

The good thing from yesterday is that there was support from Richards, regardless of who was the winger, he was always going to be chased down by Fox and it was good play from Richards to follow it up and support him.

He would have got caught about 20 yards before Roberts

I don't think Fox is the fastest in SL, plus with a head start you would expect a flyer to have enough speed to score. I'm disappointed in Roberts, after Calderwood I was excited to think we had a winger with so much pace that once he got in the clear it would be a forgone conclusion, unfortunately that isn't the case with Roberts.

I'm not comparing Roberts with Ainscough, a) because they are two very different wingers. It would be like comparing Robinson to Offiah, both were outstanding but different wingers.
b) We didn't bring Ainscough from the other side of the world, we didn't put him on a 4 yr decent contract.
c) Roberts has nearly 10 years on Ainscough.

Ainscough isn't ready to be playing first team rugby every week, all aspects of his defence aren't good enough yet. People who saw the reserves yesterday will agree as he was caught out for both of Hull KR's tries. The lad is brilliant in attack but Pat has also scored a bagful of tries recently on that left wing and if Roberts had been playing that side this season he would also have had a shed load. Roberts is a good player and getting a lot of unfair criticism IMO after his start he played really well I thought. Being caught by Fox after about 60 metres whilst carrying a ball and constantly looking over your shoulder is no disgrace but Ainscough would of scored wouldn't he?
