| To be honest I don’t much care about the colour of the seats but I can understand the perception that removing the red could be construed as a symbolic first step of removing the rugby.

I suspect there will be a few more complaints once fans see the front of the stadium tomorrow.

| Quote: NickyKiss "I’m probably in a small minority on here in supporting both clubs and I think it’s that fact which makes me a bit disappointed in this move. I want to see everything done to bring them closer together. I suppose I don’t know the facts in reality and for all I know the new Latics guys could’ve said we’re replacing the seats (which is needed) and do you fancy splitting the costs and going red and blue still or do you want to not pay anything towards it and in that case we’ll choose what we want. I doubt there has been that conversation and Lenagan would probably point to the fact that renovations are covered under the rental terms but they’ve the right to do as they please. I just think it’s a dumb move tbh and things like this aren’t helpful.'"
Correct, and if people like 100% Warrior could not care less about the Stadium becoming a total Football Stadium, I can assure them that are plenty people in Wigan who do care and see the move as a kick in the teeth not only to the Warriors but to the Rugby town of Wigan.
Not to mention, the supporters of other Rugby League clubs laughing their heads off with what has happen to Wigan Warriors.
The problem today is that there are too many who do not care about anything!

| Quote: Rogues Gallery "Whelan had no intention of developing Central Park. He wanted to buy it cheap and then sell it on for a big profit. That was his modus operandi.
I was at that meeting at The Riverside when he started shouting from the back of the room and was then offered an opportunity to come up on stage and debate the sale.
Needless to say he scurried away with his henchmen in tow!!!
As for the colour of the seats it doesn't bother me in the least. I was told about three years ago that the stadium heeded around 5 - 8 Million pounds spending on it.'"
That evidently was not the meeting when Whelan did stand on the platform and stated that if a joint Stadium was ever built, it would never be owned by either his beloved Latic's or the Warriors and would be owned by a independent stadium company.
That's how two faced, Whelan was with the help of his cronies like Ernie Benbow and John Martin (Resigned from the Warriors board of directors on the promise of a extra £25,000 by Whelan on top of the £250.000 compensation for the loss of the Riverside Club in the Tesco Sale)
If Whelan had anything about himself when he sold the Latic's, he would have donated the Stadium to the the town and people of Wigan and be run by the Council with sponsorship rights of the Stadium to pay for the care and maintenance of the Stadium.
And from I understand, it is not just about the colour of the seats, but the removal of everything that has anything to do with the Warriors and the game of Rugby League, including the club logo on the front of the Stadium and any pictures of past players in the foyer and corridors, etc.
The sickening part is that like the Latic's playing squad, it is being done by people who do not even live in Wigan and a owner who lives in another country.
Apart from their supporters, what true Warriors supporter can feel sorry for them now?

I like how you’ve changed what I’ve said to I’m happy with a “total football stadium”. That was never said, or implied. But then again that’s the level of you.
I said I don’t care what colour the plastic is that my occupies, nor would it bother me if a mural of Andy Liddell was to appear. It’s never bothered me in 20 odd years. It’s not something I, or you, or anyone else has even bothered with. The stadium seating was never in our colours anyway other than white! It isn’t our stadium. It never has been, or ever will be. FWIW I do think we should have our own stadium but as was pointed out yesterday; Saints and Warrington dropped on with Tesco who paid a large portion of the build costs alongside their respective councils. We won’t have that luxury. We don’t desperately need a new stadium. We could do with one but we don’t need it.
You only have to look at how critical I’ve been of the club, RFL and SL of late and that tells you I do care about our sport. You can’t try and band me in there Ruddy.

The club logo hasn’t gone anywhere. It’s still up there. But please don’t let facts distort a delusional rant.

I'll add my two penneth in. I think the deal was Tesco would pay for the shell of the stadium and then the club had to fund the fitting of the stadium. Where the shell of the stadium ended i presume was the bricks and mortar plus supporter seating. All interior works were paid for by the club. I think it was 10-15m tesco paid. I may be wrong
Either way we got a new stadium, something we needed. Tesco got a large store which hopefully they benefitted from also.
As much as we Warrington - Wigan have a rivalry. Wigan RL deserve to have there own stadium. What did happen to all the money from Central Park? Just read it was 12m that Tesco paid for Central park....

| We'll never replace Central park. This stadium (I forget what is called now as it's name changes more than the ideas to help stop covid) is bloody rubbish. Even at it's best in atmosphere it never replicated Central park. Selling that stadium Wigan rugby really lost something. I think we should try and fund our own stadium but it won't happen because rugby League in general in this country is on its back side. I don't care about the colour of the seats but it's a slap in the face. I remember being about 7 and walking into Springfield park when I was at my Nan's and it was ok I guess. The football team wouldn't have this stadium if it wasn't for wigan rugby. I'd love to break away now but we missed the boat when rugby was of a good standard and exciting and we all went to watch. I'd leave the football team to it and I'd be happy to put my money into the kids teams and watch the talent bloom and be successful in the NRL. Just they have no real platform to show their talent. All this I blame on the rfl. They've shafted so many teams and their project is failing spectacularly...... If Wigan, a top four team so far and I don't know how, can finish at the top end of the league then I don't see how new fans will ever come to watch this. Change the colour of the seats change everything. We shouldn't pay for mediocre rubbish and I'm not doing.

Unless they buy the land off the council, they can't remove us.
It's a complicated setup....but the latics are also technically tennents.

Then Latics are not tenants as the Stadium is owned by the new owner of the Latics, who like Whelan also owns the Stadium, be it as a separate company to the Latic's.
Who do you think Wigan are paying rent to, the Mayor of Wigan's Charity.
A few years, the Latics were playing non league football in the Northern Premier League and playing in a poor little stadium called Springfield Park while Wigan were playing in a strong Rugby League competition and playing at the larger and famous Stadium called Central Park.
Today, the Latics are playing in the Football League and playing in their own modern DW Stadium while Wigan have no Stadium which they can now call their home.
And there are some who think that nothing is wrong!

To wipe off debts with around 50% to pay off the debts and the remainder with the exception of £250,000 to John Martin for loss of the Riverside Club into the bank account of the club which was later ended up in the hands of Whelan.
Terrible decision made even worse by Wigan Council not helping the club with land for a new Stadium and also wanting Wigan away from being near to then town centre.
