Well yeah, it's always been the case just as much with other teams, it's just that "Wigan walk" is more catchy than "Saints scuttle" or whatever.
In any case, yeah, people choose to do what they want with their money...if they want to miss part of what they've paid for, that's their choice.

EVERY single one of those players deserved applauding off that field tonight.'"
Really surprised to see you spouting this nonsense. It comes up at least once every year, and I thought you were better than this.
The 'fan' who watches every minute, of every match, home and away, and waits until the players have all gone down the tunnel, is very special, and is clearly a better type of fan than all the rest.

| First off, I was referring to those who got up and left when the drop goal went over. Some will leave at the same time every week whether we win or lose. I wasn't referring to those people but those who left because we lost and no doubt moaned about it.

I know that this forum is only a small cross section of our fan base but I've not seen many people moaning about us losing.

There was a large chunk of people who got up and left when the winning DG went over. It's those types that annoy me and did so on Friday.
A guy who sits near me leaves on 76 minutes every week whether it's 0-0 or 100-0. He won't be the only one. Him leaving didn't/doesn't bother me as he'd have done it anyway (granted I don't understand it but that's another matter) but it annoyed me when just because we lost people opted to leave instead of showing the respect that that group of players deserved for that performance.
If they weren't interested then yes they don't deserve for the fans to be interested, but that wasn't the case on Friday.

I don't profess to be a bigger fan than anyone else and have left without applauding on several occasions. I always stay to the end yes, but I don't applaud what doesn't deserve applauding. Friday deserved applauding and the young lads would have felt bad enough having lost that game without looking to the stands to see a fire drill.

That depends on your view of why people pay to go to matches (or to any other form of entertainment). Is it to show support for whoever/whatever they're watching, or to enjoy themselves/be entertained? Why should it be any different to, say, going to pub to enjoy the beer rather than to support the landlord?

Surely Wigan fans go to support Wigan and the entertainment aspect is a bonus? We got both in abundance last week.
The wording in the OP was OTT as I've said and I apologise for that. I'll put it down to everyone being different and try not to let it bother me so much next time.
BTW - I've missed games due to work and other commitments and know that that happens. Again, the post wasn't aimed at them but more those who opted not to go as opposed to had their hand forced. Again, my apologies.
