And signed one trick Mick, letting Newton go, something Noble tried to reverse when he came to Wigan.

| Ainscough was a good finisher. Don't think he was too bad all round really - just his laid back demeanour didn't go down too well with some fans.

Pretty sure Noble signed Mcavoy and he turned out to be very important for us towards the back end of 06. A fair few were wanting him re-signed.

| Sorry but McAvoy did his job he was signed for and did it very well IMO..That left side defence was killing wigan in 06 and McAvoy came in and plugged the gap...Call him all you want but he did what was asked of him.

He must be one of the best signings Wigan have ever made, great value and top quality.
He is the best centre in super league IMO and only the top players in the NRL could do a better job but his commitment and proffesionalism is second to none.
Very bold statements though from Leuluai.
Who is our best ever signing?'"
overseas player gene miles(did more for wigan than kenny ever did)
best ever signing ellery or edwards, edwards gets it for pure comitment
best value offiah, wigan broke the bank for him but he we didn;t half get a return on him

| Getting back onto the best signings ever, Gary Connolly has got to figure in there somewhere.

| Greatest overseas signing - Dean Bell has to be up there IMO. He epitomised everything that Wigan stands for.
But overall greatest signing, surely it has to be Shaun Edwards, with the very greatest of respect to Billy Boston (who was a more naturally gifted player)?
We signed Shaun for £35k on his 17th birthday in 1983. The rest is history.
Most variable signing - Gene Miles - rubbish for the first half of the season while he recovered his fitness and then absolutely incredible for the remainder of the season, by the end of that season he was playing rugby league on a different planet. Why we didn't sign him up for one more season is beyond me. Was there ever a bigger missed opportunity?

I just read through all five pages and couldn't believe noone else had mentioned him. "Man of Steel" doesn't even come close.

I though Liam Botham did OK for us at the time. Nothing great but always gave 100% and was solid in defence.

I wondered if anyone had. A fantastic centre, hard as nails and of course a great servant to the club off the field for many years.
7 cc winners medals, 6, championship winners medals, man of steel and Lance Todd trophy winner. George is great and thank God he has signed for another year but Bell has him beat IMO. Just goes to show how lucky we are at Wigan to get to watch two quality centres like these.
