Quote: saintnickle34 "Pure comedy genius .Had a great season last year granted but that was last year .We have a far superior team to 2013 whereas yours is vastly inferior.Keep believing that your going to peak again when it counts if thats what eases the losses to huddersfield and cas does. The derby can go either way but our starting 13 and squad is vastly superior to yours this year .'"

It sounds to me like the only things that at are vastly superior to ours is your arrogance, and delusions of grandeur.

If by "all the signs" you mean winning two 1st v 2nd games and a cup tie away to last years league leaders in three weeks (whilst down on numbers) I would agree. icon_smile.gif

I meant scraping past (which given the circumstances is putting it mildly) a Giants team who, aside from beating us when we'd already checked in for our flight to Sydney, are struggling to find any form, and then finding it a struggle to scrape past Cas last week end.
Please don't get me wrong, I am delighted that Saints fans are certain that it's all about Leeds and them, that they have the best back line in the league and that they are "vastly superior" to us. Just because I can't see any concrete evidence to cause me to doubt that Wigan will continue to do what we have spent the last 4 years doing, doesn't mean to say Saints fans shouldn't turn up expecting another 75-0. In some ways it would make a backs against the wall victory for the underdog against the odds victory for us even sweeter. icon_biggrin.gif icon_biggrin.gif

Ahhh, so the scratchy form is beating two teams you've lost to, got it. For a moment I thought it might be toiling against lower league teams or London
I see you've adopted the Wane approach of making up boasts, excellent work.

Bring on the match! I'm not at all confident given the players we'll have out, but we've proved to have a fair bit of fighting spirit in recent weeks and hopefully that will pull us through.

Just have to pick you up on this FTV. Two dodgy decisions aside you would have lost to both too! icon_wink.gif

I'm just glad we can argue the toss again and have some banter about who's the better team.

It's all been too clear cut for a number of years now with one team or the other being comfortably better.

Or the others that went against Cas and Huddersfield for that matter. But then none of those resulted in the match winning score, did they? icon_wink.gif The fact is, you were second best in both those games and, whichever way you dress it up, got way with the win you didn't really deserve. Let's just say you're hardly in a position to be crowing that you won games against teams we didn't!

Quote: Lingfield Warrior "You're mad. But that's fine. We'll see soon enough for sure.
The only time the 2 sides have played, and that was on your manor with your team having much greater motivation, we beat you. The good thing about your "vastly superior" point, is that by 2 on Friday we will know the truth of it.
Out of interest, how many titles/medals/cups can your "vastly superior" first 13 point to, compared with our "vastly inferior" one?
What interests me is that we have 4 years of evidence that Wigan are a very strong team, regardless of the squad changes in that period. That's no fluke - we're well caoched, perfectly conditioned, well motivated and with the right temperament. We have 4 of the same spine that won the double, and a full back in Bowen who is class from head to toe.
From Saints' perspective, Brown had to start fast, as otherwise he might have lost his job. No team can sustain that momentum forever, and all the signs indicate that Saints' form is dropping away. It served its purpose. Wigan are running a different race, and have repeatedly shown that when we have to step up a gear we can do so.'"

This is a new season ,last year counts for nothing.

Is that the same castleford who beat you a few weeks ago??
For what its worth i dont think there will be much in it because its a derby but i do expect our forwards to win the battle upfront but i would of been more confident if amor was playing.

Saints 30 Wigan 14.

Not a huge amount to fear in the Wigan team. Of course anything can happen in a derby, it could be a punch up or one team sailing away with a 20 point lead.

But if it plays out without any random factors. I reckon we will not be far off that score.

Wigan have not been blowing teams away by any stretch and with Wane pointing out the Wigan backs that they are a lesser bunch of players than both Leeds and Saints, he's not brimming with his usual confidence either.

Maybe he was just stressing that to get his excuses in early too icon_wink.gif

If the ref spots the Saints dummy runners taking out the defenders Wigan should win, unfortunately for the Giants last week Bentham missed that tactic with the first Saints try, it made Hohaia look like a world class player

The use of dummy runners being called into question from a Wigan supporter, now I am speechless.
