| There are 4 playoff games in the first week - last season they were all televised and were played on Friday, Saturday and Sunday. I would have thought that no matter when the football team play - Sat, Sun on Monday there is enough flexibility to accommodate us.

| Quote: Wigan/Leeds Andy "That's an urban myth that doesn't exist.
What does exist is thisGround Sharing 4. No Club shall have or enter into a ground-sharing agreement unless the agreement contains
a legally enforceable provision to the effect that the playing of the Club’s League Matches shall always take precedence over the activities of the other party to the agreement.
Nothing there stopping us playing one day and the Latics the next.'"
So really, the only thing that says is that if Latics have a game at 3pm on a Saturday and we've been scheduled to play at 3pm on Saturday as well, the football gets precedence?
Theoretically, Latics could play at 3pm and us at 7pm?

| We have 3 more games before sky announce their first batch of live football matches. Win those 3 and we'll be pretty much nailed-on to be in the top 2, and I remain confident Sky will select the Wigan Sunderland game on 11 Sep for either Sunday afternoon or Monday night, meaning neither Whelan nor Leneghan has to lose face. We will then play our play-off game on Friday night.
As for 18 Sep - if we win the week before then we have a free week, and can look forward to a home tie at the DW on 25 Sep, with no clash. If we lose and find ourselves having to play a home game away from the DW, then the blame lies with the players.

| so, if the worst does happen, what venue should the club be looking at to stage a play off game?? LSV is too small (although very convenient for me ) Widnes is a bit of a trek, and the reebok might have the same issues as home

Very rare both sides play at home at the same time.
Latics kick off 12.00 - Wigan kick off 6.00 sorted.

Remember it well. Still can't believe that two games were played in the same stadium on the same day.

Just shows it can be done. We'll just have to see where we finish, hopefully we can work something out with DW. Afterall, it's all extra money in his pocket, right?

| In your eyes maybe not, but even if they were a 4th division outfit, the fact is that they have a home game on 11 September, and we dont have a fixture as yet that day, and wont have a confirmed one until 7 days before.
When requests are made for particular home/away dates, the latics will have specifically requested an away game on 14 Aug because of the Huddersfield game. At the time of submission (late May), there are no planned Warriors fixtures at the DW from 3 September, so they are quite within their rights to let the PL give them home matches as the PL see fit any time from then onwards. Similarly, when the rugby fixtures are sorted in November, we will have asked for certain dates due to the ground being in use. It involves a bit of give & take on both sides when a dual-purpose stadium is involved, and to have only had two "clashes" (both due to short-notice rugby fixtures) in 6 years suggests there is plenty of co-operation by both clubs, even if the fans dont see it like that!
If Sky/ESPN dont choose the Wigan v Sunderland fixture then we will have a problem. We will know this in 3 weeks when the first batch of TV fixtures are announced.
Fingers crossed.

The televised fixtures have been announced and Wigan v Sunderland is not a TV game. I guess we'll either be playing on Sunday evening or elsewhere!

I think we'll be fine on the Friday. But this is pointless discussion now until nearer the time and when we know whats what.

| Quote: --[ WW ]-- "--"How difficult can it be for the RFL and the FA to work together to make sure this kind of thing doesn't happen? They know which stadiums are dual use, surely it's not that hard to look at each others fixtures and work around each other?'"
Exactly..........thats what I cant work out with Latics being at home on the 11th Sept.
Surely latics should state to the FA either the staduim is out of use for three weeks at that time of the year for them.....like we do when they re-seed, and ask for 3 away games concecutively, or alternatively should play the first week of the p/offs away, the 2nd week at home but on the sunday, and the 3rd week away again!!!
Cant be that hard can it? FFS....if we're made to move the game again its an absolute joke as the staduim should have been booked.
if we're thrown out again we need some serious protesting organising rather than just people spouting their mouths off and being all talk and no trousers on ere, sayin they'll protest, but then doing sweet FA like last time
