Its clear to everyone somethings happening. The coach will already know the players will already know so why not tell the fans whats really going on
I'm not one of these fans who wants to be kept updated about everything going on behind closed doors. but on this instance when every man and his dog can see whats happening. the club should clear it up

A reasonable post on the face of it, but can you imagine the embarrassment if IL gave the following interview:
IL: Wigan RL and Brian Noble have decided to part ways at the end of this season. Brian will have fulfilled his contract and we wish him best of luck. So, just to clear things up because there's been some frustration among fans caused by endless unsubstantiated rumours, Brian Noble is DEFINITELY leaving Wigan at the end of 2009.
Journo: Okay, Mr. Chairman. So who will be the next coach of Wigan RL?
IL: Erm ... we can't say as yet.
Journo: But you have someone lined up?
IL: We're talking to people, but there's nothing I can tell you yet because nothing's been confirmed? As you know, appointing a new head-coach can be a complex process.
Journo: So bascially you've sacked the coach without having anyone to replace him?
IL: We haven't sacked him. We're just making a public announcement that his contract won't be renewed.
Journo: At the same time announcing that Wigan RL has no coach for the 2010 season?
IL: Of course we'll have a coach.
Journo: But at this moment in time you don't have?
IL: Technically, that's correct.
Journo: Which looks a tad unprofessional?
IL: Agreed.
Journo: In the light of that, don't you think it was a bit early to make any kind of announcement?
IL: Possibly.
