Wigan just don't look like a team who do any attack work in training.
It's bewildering how average they are with ball in hand, especially given what a lethal presence Lammy was when he was on the field.
It's almost as if the Hail Mary Ball is now deemed a viable part of our attacking repertoire. Or perhaps the ONLY part.
I loved Lammy the player, but I'm really glad he's leaving the coaching role. This team look so undrilled in attack that it's untrue.

We’re so game in defence but I do wonder if we have to hang in there that much due to a size disadvantage, that we’re just so goosed when it comes to having the ball that players are too fatigued to push up in support or to run through the line to make space. I remember when Maguire came just being mesmerised by the amount of bodies moving when we had the ball, well now I’m just tired searching for somebody who will move. It’s got to be the coaching because that can’t all be fatigue.

| As I said earlier at least it was competitive and in the balance till the end, which hasn't happened in the recent past. Stand by my view we were better but the same old issues remain - the one at the forefront today was the lack of linebreakers (No French, Field, Gildart etc).
An 'arm wrestle' (as the Sky lot refer to it) essentially refers to a game where both teams have decided to adopt a low risk approach where set completion is the main goal - the hope being the other side will crack first. We actually won the 2nd half arm wrestle but failed to put on a single attacking play in the set we had in their 20 (other than the high kick to Halsall). Which begs the question of why we are adopting the arm wrestle approach in the first place if we're not going to try and take advantage when we win?

We play like we do and barely even try for a repeat set, the very thing which would benefit our drab style.

| I’m a lot happier with the effort put in. Thought we was the better team. Still lacking massively in attacking play.

| Could anyone with any maths skills figure out whether we can still miss out on the top 6?

If Leeds Cas and HKR win their remaining games and we lose ours it's going down to fractions of % points

Hull KR play both Cas and Leeds in their last 2 so that isn't happening.

Cancel that HKR play Cas next week so we'll probably scrape in whatever

That’s probably a big part of the problem, we don’t. The past 2 1/2 months we’ve played pretty much every 5 days. Between games that’s 1 day rehab, 1 day rest, 1 day fitness and video and 1 day training. Not enough.
I actually feel a little bit positive after that. We now have a whole week between games to try and fix things up in training. We weren’t outplayed and have them as few chances as they gave us. Discipline and error count was much improved. Taken back to the bare bones we were beaten by the bounce of the ball off a skewed kick.

| Turns out we lost a sub as Joe Bullock came in on the bench late. Gildart's replacement needed to go straight into the starting line up apparently. Bizarre rule.

| Kev Brown made an interesting point in studio about Hastings and our attack. He said he felt Hastings was one of the best halves in the world but said he is so competitive and demanding that if anything, he’s getting his hands on the ball too often and is fatigued because he’s willing to do the donkey work of carting the ball in. He said Smith and Hardaker need to demand more ball and ease the burden on Hastings. I thought it was an excellent point.

I’d wholeheartedly agree with that. Said the same to a Leeds fan who was sat next to me.
