Wigan must have seen something in ainscough and vaieleki to sign them. Vaiaeleki had played for the kiwis and ainscough had played origin so they can,t have been that bad. Having said that they did,nt perform for wigan.

Interesting points.
Firstly Wigans main target was Mark Gasnier, we clearly invested time and money in securing his signature but for whatever reason Gasnier decided to remain at St.George. We then signed Vaealiki and took a huge gamble knowing he was injured - when his signing was announced I was told by a member of the coaching set up at the time that the club knew full well that his recent injury would prevent him from running over distance.
Jamie Ainscough is another interesting one - he looked uncomfortable at centre (he was brought in to replace Renouf) but when moved to wing showed what he could do and came up with some key plays which helped secure the Challenge Cup - How did Pat Richards look at centre in his first year? - different player when moved to the wing.

Good points well made. Did,nt realise vaieleki was signed with an injury.

| I have a suspicion that Clubb might be trimmed down and put in the 3/4's
We all know that Wane likes his big s and Clubb might be able to fulfill that role.
I am not basing this on anything other than my own personal speculation

Don't think so, Wane is quoted as saying "he's just the type of forward we need" or something similar.

| Sarginson played very well at stand off for England Knights yesterday along with his scrum half Sam Powell.

Dom Crosby played #13 and looked massive, it must be the England shirt.

Wigan have paid a transfer fee for him.'"
A couple of interesting points on that interview. He turned down more money elsewhere to sign for us. Also it was said that he would be competing with Goulding, Thornley and Gelling for places.

That was a bit more than an interesting interview. As some have said up until 2 years ago he was a very decent player and listening to the interview it sounds as if he wanted out of London at least 2 years ago. He sounded relieved just to get out of London Broncos.
Heard a lot of interviews when players move to another club but you can tell that was a very honest and unscripted interview. Was funny when he said that Wane told him he would be one of the senior players at the club at 26. He would be the youngest in Wire well almost.

| I, like a lot of us, don't rate Clubb although Sarginson always did appear to have potential.
However, after recruiting Dudson, Flower, Green and Smith who we were told were average or less and have turned out to be excellent I'll reserve judgement on these two lads to see how they go in 2014.
The coaching staff do have the ability to develop a player's talent fully.
Wigan RLFC are a very good club to support.

| I thought Sarginson was pretty impressive in the 60 mins I saw if yesterday's Knights game. He was solid enough in defence and was a constant threat with the ball, coming close to breaking the line numerous times. I can fully understand his signing because he was a fantastic junior player and impressed when he came in to first team at London. The lad has lost his way a little but there's no better club to be at then Wigan to improve.

KF , comments on Sarge?'"
Sarginson has great footwork, a good turn of pace and is quite creative so he will make breaks. His downsides are he is weak in defence, he lacks a bit of physical presence and he can be greedy which means he'll make a great break and then spoil it by not passing to a support runner when he needs to. Like Clubb nobody is sure what his best position should be, but in some ways he is kind of the opposite, early on people thought he might become a loose forward in the long term, but he doesn't look to have the physical attributes (whereas Clubb was a centre whose physical attributes always made it look like he would end up in the pack). He's mostly played centre for us, but don't be surprised if he ends up covering Matt Bowen at fullback.

[quote="rubber duckie":8f22o6ue]That would make Wigan strong favourites then. With Ratchford at FB and Patton with Cronk in the halves, I think we'll do very well without Sam.[/quote:8f22o6ue]: |

Luckily weak defence is something that can (and hopefully will) be solved. Other wise its quite simple, he won't play. Wane is massive on his defence.
On the same hand, Wane is a perfectionist about picking the right option with ball in hand. If he continues to make the wrong decisions he will be left out until he makes the right ones, so i have faith in them to sort this out.
Time will tell all anyway. He could play a number of positions, but all we can do is speculate about it for now.
