| Quote: Cruncher "it would make sense to hang on for the time being. He clearly isn't responsible for what Hock's done, so why would the club do anything to imply otherwise?'"
My initial thoughts regarding Noble and the Hock scandal was that Noble had to leave immediately as the club had been thrown into a state of turmoil which could have been avoided by better management of certain players.
I now think the same as you however. It wouldn't be fair on Noble to sack him at the same time as Hock as there would always be those anti Wigan and Noble critics who would link the two together and may even imply Noble had something to do with it all. In fact reading a few posts it’s already started with rival fans having sly digs at him in regards to this.
It’s a whole new Pandora’s Box we’d be well best staying away from.

I agree with that, my thoughts on it where the same.
That being said, its clear Noble isn't staying and that IL wants his own man in charge, what concerns me is what is happening to our recruitment in and around that.

| Thing is, Nobby IS IL's "own man".
He offered him the contract extension last year, albeit only for 1 year.

very true BUT (adding to the conspiracy theories on here), maybe IL had his own man in mind when he took over wigan but he wasnt available?
hence the noble extension

I can understand Nobe not being sacked in the same week as the Hock story breaking but now it has if Noble is sacked next week, next month or let go at the end of the season some people are bound to link the two.
Not saying he should be sacked now regardless but rather he will get tainted by this whenever he leaves as it happened under his watch whether he could have done anything about it or not.
If the decision has been made on Noble's future, either stay or go, I can't see why the decision has not been made public either way.

That may be true, but Wigan is IL's club. And since that contract was renewed last year, Wigan have gone downhill at a rapid rate of knots.
There are only so many knocks that a professional partnership can endure before someone bails or gets turfed.

| I just dont understand why IL wont come out and say there will be a change for next season.
Its clear to everyone somethings happening. The coach will already know the players will already know so why not tell the fans whats really going on
I'm not one of these fans who wants to be kept updated about everything going on behind closed doors. but on this instance when every man and his dog can see whats happening. the club should clear it up
Only the ones who believe in AREA 51, the faked moon landings, will connect nobles leaving to whats happening with Hock. when its clear as day on the pitch the reasons

| I don't think Noble has been sacked. On Sky Sports News, they just introduced a report on Noble speaking about the news of Gareth Hock's potential two year ban to be shown in the next hour. Why would they do this if he has been sacked ? Me thinks this was a very well calculated wind-up !

If so how about a two week ban from the site for the first person to post the rumour and the first person to "confirm" it in this thread

Your right but IL got shot down this week for even sounding out potential replacements for Noble. I'd hazard a guess that some on here would had a heart attack if he got rid of him so close to the whole Hock thing.
Sadly tho there are opposition fans with such a massive chip on their shoulders who have already subversively questioned Noble’s role in this fiasco.
Noble doesn’t deserve anything like that rep as I’ve always thought of him as an above board type of guy even if i want him out of the club.

I didn't see much evidence of that when the rumour was first started. People were praying for it to true that he had been sacked on Tuesday night (that was the rumour wasn' it?). Not to go over old ground but the reason IL was being shot down wasn't for sounding out potential replacements but for doing that and then saying Noble's job depended on results which a lot of people consider at least unprofessional.

I agree but if he goes you can guarantee it will be mentioned as one of the major events of Nobles time here. You can see the headlines now, "Brian Noble, ex- Wigan coach who presided over one of the worst periods of Wigan's recent history culminating in the Hock drug scandal...."
I think that particular horse has bolted.

I agree with you here, and Noble made sure Hudson was out of the door at the Bulls the day the first test proved posetive, Noble is many things but his integrety and honesty is beyond question IMHO.
