Would we say that 13 is our most iconic number? We've been blessed with many great players that you could make a case for any of 1, 6, 7 or 13.

Only recently when you consider it’s not been banded round to other players where as the others have but in the main I’d agree that you could make a case for all those to be iconic

It definitely is in my lifetime I would think, but seeing as the number 13 has been the club captain for the last 25 years (give or take the odd cameo) and has only actually been worn by 2 players, for most people aged 35 and under it more than likely will be.

Prior to that, it was worn by the likes of Clarke, Hanley and Bell who were all quality players and all captained the club at one time or another. In fact - who was the last player to wear number 13 that you would say was "crap"

That's a great question and I have no idea.

We've been extremely fortunate to say that for 30/40 years, we've had a world-class player in the 13 shirt.

I've been back through Bilko's site to 1990 and the worst 2 players would be Haughton and Andy Johnson in the pre SL days.

In their defence the list is those two along with Hanley, Goodway, Forshaw, Cassidy, Betts, Miles, Clarke, Farrell, McGinty, Panapa, Bell and a cameo by Jason Robinson.

Haughton was better than Forshaw for me

I guess some of those (Robinson in particular) are pre squad number days?

Back on topic, Im ok with Isa at 13, he is made of steel as we know and never ever gets injured. Mr dependable at 13 for me. On the issue of captain, i have always preferred a half back to be captain as they set most of the plays up anyway and direct people around. He may be a little young but Hastings is the outstanding candidate for me. He comes across as a very intelligent player and if all goes well with his UK girlfriend it might be a good persuader to stay on again after next season

Squad number days it is literally Faz and Lockers

No arguments from me for Isa. I think any one of Bateman/Faz/Isa would suit it down to the ground and in any case I expect them all to play there at some point in 2021. I know we’ve banged on about how good our back line looks for 2021 but our pack looks equally as good IMO. Lot of pressure on Lam to deliver with the squad at his disposal
