I noticed that Hudds fans were allowed them.

The excuse given was that the thin plywood canes could be used as a weapon! So can pound coins and loose change. Maybe thats the next step. Huddersfield stewards taking all yer shrapnel.

And shoes... They can do a fair bit of damage, especially heels.

I don't see why not going to away matches precludes you from being a "true fan"?

I understand where "those where the days" is coming from. Its more of the people who want to create an atmosphere getting together at away games where as at the DW everyone is spread out and it is difficult to create a decent atmosphere sometimes.

So actually its more the case that, through necessity and by the nature of the circumstances of visiting an away ground, the experience is intensified. I appreciate that, but that is hardly a sound basis for suggesting that those of us who don't go to away matches are not "true fans".
