Why is it ridiculous, given the fact that Maguire had already told the fans in his interview that he was fielding a young side, and we have another game on Wednesday v Leigh.
This was the team I predicted on the Leigh site on Wednesday, and I was wrong on one player. Surely you saw it coming.

TBH I didn't expect a total reserve line up. My reaction is as per Cruncher in that my annoyance has waned and I am looking forward to the game. However, I'm on a freebie - I wouldn't pay £14 to watch our kids and I can understand the reaction of those who may have already bought tickets. It's one thing to say you will be playing a "young" side but quite another to omit every single first teamer IMO. |

| Well I + 3 did pay in advance and am thoroughly disgusted. This is a reserve fixture and should be priced as such! I would still have gone had it been announced as such...but not at £14 per ticket!! I have to say this has annoyed me more than anything the club has done recently as I think it is nothing short of a con. If it had any morals the club would offer a refund for anyone who doesn't want to pay £14 for a reserve match....let alone a pre-season friendly reserve match! Disgraceful!!  |

I've never understood why people bother getting tickets for a friendly, that a) isn't going to sell out, b) doesn't have any "early bird" offers and c) you don't have a scooby what the team is going to be.
It must be a Wigan thing - we just like getting in a queue.

I understand he said it'd be a 'young' team, but I, along with many others on here, expected at least 5 first teamers to play. I think on principal I should get a refund, simply because I get to watch the reserves for free all year and shouldn't have to pay £30 to watch them pre-season. This is a match I had been looking forward to all year and it has been ruined with this squad selection. |

As a Leigh fan has stated on their board out of these lads we will be watching, some are future internationals, future super league stars or at the least future CH1 players to the higher teams and clubs like Leigh and Widnes would kill to be able to put out a team like that. I cant wait for this match, it will be more evenly matched than if we put out a first team and battered them. You've got your ticket, the moneys gone, just go and enjoy the match!

To win the game with a full team out would mean nothing whatsoever whereas to win it with a total reserve side out will mean alot both to the players and the fans.
In a way Sunday is alot of those players biggest game of their careers. They have the chance to show how good they are against a senior team without having any experienced club mates to fall back on.
If they can win it'll be a massive shot in the arm for the lot of them. |
