| Thought the same when Eckersley made that run back into play. When he was hit high I thought what would have been the consequences if the had stayed down. It was a one on one tackle straight to the head. A card probably, yellow if there was mitigation red if no mitigation. So what was the mitigation?

| Had a look at the other teams in the top 5 now and they’ve received the following amount of penalties-
Saints 33 Leigh 30 HKR 29 Hull FC 24 Wigan 8
I’d love to know if there is some sort of technical reason why Wigan would have a quarter of Saints penalties and even only a third of Hull FC’s. Is it something to do with how we attack? Are we just too honest and not doing the Brodie Croft style humping of the ground from yesterday or the constant talking to the ref/throwing your arms up that Walmsley does. Are we as a fanbase too passive? The Leeds crowd were all over Smith yesterday but I very rarely hear the Brick like that.
On the face of it we’ve actually given away the least penalties with 16 but why are there so few penalties in our games in general? To be averaging less than 2 penalties received per game is absurd really and it’s hurting us. I really hope the club are on to this and asking questions as to what is going on because it can’t carry on.

| Last week Leigh conceded 1 penalty v us. Be interesting to find out how many they conceded v HKR Also after conceding 1 penalty against us let's see how many Leeds give away at Wire next week.
From those figures above it appears curious that referees are appearing to change their criteria when refereeing our opponents.

You're obviously watching a different Leeming to everyone else then, he can't stand at dummy half without doing a gull wing impersonation while mouthing off and looking in the Refs direction.

| Hudds vs. Wire - 7 pens conceded vs. Leigh - 7 pens conceded vs. Hull - 3 pens conceded vs. Wigan - 0 pens conceded (0 given against us) - I think this is actually wrong in the stats. I think it's more like 1 penalty against us, 2 against Hudds. vs. Salford - 5 pens conceded
Leeds vs. Wakey - 4 pens conceded vs. Salford - 3 pens conceded vs. Cas - 2 pens conceded vs. Catalans - 5 pens conceded vs. Wigan - 1 pen conceded (5 given against us)
Leigh vs. Wigan - 1 pen conceded (3 given against us) vs. Hudds - 3 pens conceded vs. Catalans - 6 pens conceded vs. Hull - 7 pens conceded vs. Hull KR - 6 pens conceded
Hull vs. Catalans - 7 pens conceded vs. Wigan - 3 pens conceded (4 given against us) vs. Hudds - 6 pens conceded vs. Leigh - 7 pens conceded vs. Wakey - 5 pens conceded
Incredible really how well behaved teams are specifically when playing us. We should be truly honoured.

| I think I was 1 out in fairness to the refs, we've actually had 9 penalties this season, so that's only 24 behind Saints, 21 behind Leigh and 20 behind HKR.
At least there is a comeback for everyone when we get the usual 'Wigan get everything' lines thrown out, each and every time we win/score a try/play a game.

| And in the interest of giving the whole picture, how many penalties have Wigan conceded against those teams?

| And the Hull one included the incident when AK was injured that should have been a card but wasn't even given as a penalty! Same on Eckersley on Saturday.
I'd seriously like to hear from the club that they're questioning this. It just doesn't stack up.

| We're the least penalised side in the league with 16 but that's not the point. Our discipline being good does not mean the others sides is automatically very good. We can only legally control our own discipline and we've been doing ok with that but why does every side have comfortably their best disciplinary performance of the season against Wigan? It simply can't be a coincidence.
I'd love to know if there is a technical explanation of how we attack and defend that could explain it there being so few penatlies in Wigan games (yet we still always lose the count). I know Grimmy who posts on here is something to do with refereeing and somebody like that ay have a plausible reason.

That's a massive 1.8 penalties a game on average! What are we moaning about? Haha

Salford have given away 41 penalties this season, so they're averaging just above 8 per game. If we're down at that zero to 2 or 3 mark again, it really is time to ask questions. Thank heavens for small mercies anyway. When I saw Jack Smith was reffing us Saturday, I was thinking it may be another 13-1 penalty count, like we had at Wire (against kids) last season. As it was, it was only 5-1 and it felt like it was about 5-0 on the set restarts. Pretty decent of him that.
