Leeds won because they had two halfbacks in McGuire and Burrows ( please do not tell me that Burrows was hooker) who did an old fashioned halfbacks job on us and by that I mean being allowed to roam all across the width of the pitch.

Wigan on the other hand after a very bright start when they scored a superb try down the left, Leeds suddenly tightened up on Williams and Farrell and by doing this 80% of Wigan's attacking threat was snuffed out. Leeds knew that nowhere near the same threat would come from Wigan's right.

Finally I would just like to congratulate Jamie Peacock on what as been a great career.

13 men this time and still couldn't get the job done against an old & knackered Leeds side - not good enough!

TBH as a neutral watching last year's game I thought Wigan were the better side and deserved the win aside from Flower's brain explosion. Not sure it was a 'moral' victory though!

Leeds' defense was solid all night & we didn't (couldn't) make any impression in that first half. Much better in the 2nd, but (yet again) some diabolical kicking & a few brain-farts let us down. Leeds deserve the win, they've been the team to beat all year & we just fell short. Notwithstanding they'll be insuferable for the next 12 months. At least it weren't the cabbage munchers again.
Bowen was a monster & it's playing like that which'll make him missed. The younglings did well too. And couple of our so-called senior players might well be lucky to not have had a 10 minute rest.

Ah well, start it all again in February. Just the internationals to look forward to now.

Unbelievably arrogant statement.

I dunno, I expected Wigan to put us to the sword after Phil Clarke et al on Sky repeatedly assured us that the Leeds pack were gone... I think in the end, the tough run-in Leeds had meant that they were more battle-hardened than Wigan, which explains our early lead. We had just enough left in the tank to hold on after the Walters try.

I blame Nobby for jinxin it on the radio early on. He said more or less the same as the Sly mob. Although he also reckoned Giants & the Stainers were going to win through too. It is mushroom season after all.

TBH it was apparent that the Leeds middles where looking out on their feet and half gaps where beginning to appear but then we went and took all the pressure off by kicking for 2 when we already had a 2 point lead. I think that gave your middles just that bit of a breather they needed to regroup. We should of kicked it into the corner and tried to win the game rather than taking the 2 and looking to close the game out.
