| Salford 19 man squad......
Rangi Chase, Mason Caton-Brown, Michael Dobson, Niall Evalds, Theo Fages, Darrell Griffin, George Griffin, Josh Griffin, Harrison Hansen, Weller Hauraki, Liam Hood, Greg Johnson, Adrian Morley, Cory Paterson, Junior Sau, Lama Tasi, Scott Taylor, Logan Tomkins, Jordan Walne.
Getting back to somewhere near full strength, with the obvious exceptions of Locke and BJB. Our 17 might look something like....
Niall Evalds
Mason Caton-Brown
Junior Sau
Josh Griffin
Greg Johnson
Rangi Chase
Michael Dobson/Theo Fages
Darrell Griffin
Logan Tomkins/Theo Fages
Scott Taylor
Harrison Hansen
Cory Paterson
Jordan Walne
Interchange
Liam Hood/Logan Tomkins
Lama Tasi
Adrian Morley
Weller Hauraki
All depends what Harris wants to do at 7 & 9 and whether he thinks Dobson is up to starting after a couple of months out. 18 years and counting since our last win at the pie dome so just hoping we put up a decent effort!

I agree with this. I'd even like to see Josh moved to centre with Manfredi outside of him.
Or, as stated the 3 wingers; one of them moved to FB.

| Quote: jonh "Right decision as he has been poor for a while now, he seems to be lacking the desire that the other 2 have.
Massive credit to him also for speaking so honestly about his issues with form at the moment. There is a slight undertone of "I'm not getting the service" however good players and wingers make things happen, he used to be able to but it's simply not there at the moment.'"
Have to disagree.
For me it's another one of those double standard moments from SW.
Charnley is out of form but he's also had a significant number of injuries go against him. He needs game time to pull through this patch. That's no less than what Budgie got at the start of the season when he was off the boil. Lockers, whilst not as bad as Charnley, hasn't ripped up trees since his return. It's understood that he needs time to find form but the same isn't offered to Charnley.
Williams & Smith have down right stunk at points this season but both seem immune from SW axe?
Hampshire had a bad night in Catalan and was rightfully dropped for the Leeds game- will SW now do the same for Bowen who gifted Saints two tries last week?
Wane has his favourites who are undoubtedly treated differently to others in the squad.

| In Manfredi and Burgess you have 2 in form wingers. Manfredi has done nothing at all to deserve being dropped. They have both earned their shirts.
Dropping one of them for Charnley simply would not be right. Josh has had a chance to claim a shirt in Manfredi's absence and he has not come close.
The pressure is now on Dom and Joe to perform if they don't Josh will get another chance if they do he will have to be patient and rightfully so.

Mamfredi had form before he was injured.
Josh has had what 5 games? Hardly the run he needs

To automatically assume SW is at fault here could be a mistake. We simply don't know the background to this.
I wish we could field the Josh of old, but there's been no sign of him for quite a while. I appreciate he's had injury troubles, but that interview he gave to the MEN, in which he describes himself as being at a crossroads in his Wigan career, can't have done him too many favours with the coaching staff. It maybe he's just being honest, but it also sounds a bit like attempted blackmail to me. Difficult to judge where his head is at present, but if Manfredi's firing on all cylinders again then it would be very unfair to drop him anyway.

If you read Charnley's M.E.N column he was quite clearly called into Wane's office and given a telling off for the Saints game and think that is totally unjustified. Sarge made a mess of it ending up throwing a stupid pass (if its what I think it is for) and I think Charnley has carried the can.
If so this is wrong. Not only was it not his fault this isn't being dropped for loss of form but is scapegoating by Wane and he's gone for the wrong player anyway (not that he should be going for any one player - the [iteam[/i was poor).
Here is the linkhttps://www.manchestereveningnews.co.uk/sport/rugby-league/wigan-warriors-career-crossroads-admits-9470925rl
He's got no centre and from that in my view is the only player to suffer for the loss v Saints. I think Wane is doing a fine job of alienating the player and destroying what confidence he has left.
This should have been a "redeem yourself week" selection-wise in my view not one to drop a single player (for something not his fault) because the entire team was rubbish the week before.

But you can't drop kids because it ruins their confidence, right?

The reason i'm pushing this mostly on SW is because we've seen his favouritism before.
Player A has a bad game (Smith, Joel, Williams, Sarge etc) and there's no comments from Wane in the press and they don't get dropped. Player B (pick from Josh, Hampshire or Gelling) has a bad game and all of a sudden Wane is either wielding his axe or he's out with the 'rocks and diamond's' BS.
I really feel for Josh on this one. His MEN article screams to me like someone who needs a confidence boost and days like today aren't helping anyone. He'll have seen the support given to Budgie in the early part of this season and he'll wonder why he's not getting that same backing.
To keep Bowen in the squad and to drop Charnley just baffles me. Like others have said on here if he wanted to bring Manfredi back then bring him in at FB for Bowen has probably had 5/10 decent Wigan games in his time here!
Your face either fits or it doesn't with Wane.

Didn't Wane drop both budgie and Williams earlier in the season?
Josh has been poor for some time now and as far as i recall this is the first time he's been "dropped".

I can't disagree that Bowen should be dropped. I was a big defender of his last year, especially when he kept scoring those breakaway tries, but the truth is he isn't doing one of the key things he was signed for - providing a solid last line of defence. I think he's finished.

| It's true that Josh hasn't scored as many tries as we are used to recently but that may just have something to do with the fact that he's not been passed the blasted ball. Sounds like he is being singled out for the loss to Saints and God knows why - totally out of order unless whoever wrote the article hasn't told the full story. One things for certain there wouldn't be any shortage of clubs happy to have him on their books if our management have a brain storm. Not happy

Not sure about Williams but i know Budgie was dropped for one game but that was after what felt like a prolonged period of bad form. I'm sure, if my memory is correct, Budgie might have gifted the opposition a couple of tries with loose carries?
BTW i'm not knocking Budgie here - he's actually proof that someone can come out the other side of adversity, if they are given support and backing.
It's all subjective at the moment in time but what happens if Wane pushes this too much with Charnley to the point where Josh doesn't think he can work with him? Wane is playing a very dangerous game seeing that the club has already lost a top winger, i certainly don't want to see another leave.
The sensible option imo is to keep Josh on the wing and put Manfredi in at FB. Manfredi is an excellent kick return guy with great hands which is more than can we said of Bowen.
