I agree with your 17 but you have our 2 best props on the bench. I'd start one of Mossop or Clubb, play Tautai at SR. with Faz benched.

They have decided to play the game on Sunday so no rush
Or they have forgot the game is on Friday

| What did Rocky do wrong? Is he injured?
We *could* go with Sarge at full-back, then a choice of JT, Faz or Bateman to replace him in the centres.

| I'll get shot down for saying it but I would leave Burgess in. He has made an error or two but is scoring consistently and had a good game last week bar one error (which was hardly a shocker anyway to be honest it was a horrible bounce which would have seen plenty other wingers conceed). The amount of stick he gets now is disgraceful, it's like some fans have totally forgotten he is a Wigan lad going out to do his best for our team. Don't buy this rubbish that his head is in Australia either. He already knew he was leaving last season when he played brilliantly. It's the fans attitude to him that has changed, not his attitude to the game. Hopefully IL will learn from this and keep us in the dark until the end of the season next time.

| I think Manferdi is in the 19 not to play this week but to bring him in from the outer and play him at home next week. Cas away is not the place to make your first appearance of the season.
I reckon Shaun will go with -
Bowen,
Charnley, Gelling, Sarginson, Burgess,
Williams. Smith,
Mossop, McIlorum, Sutton,
Tomkins, Farrell,
Bateman.
Bench - Clubb, Tautai, Patrick, Powell.
Selection is one thing it's also how we play.
Give away another 15 pens and we'll lose no matter the team selection. 30 mtrs a penalty x 15 = 450 mtrs, give Cas 450 mtrs on their patch and we've two chances - fat chance and no chance!
Cut that right down and two League points are well within that squad's abilities.

He's another (Hampshire) who didn't get much chance to shine due to us not having much ball.
Overall pretty solid and a couple of decent passes to his winger but he should have held Dixon up for the winner.
Bowens the better fullback IMO.

With more consistent refereeing they might have beaten Saints last week. This game will be tough enough without making it tougher for ourselves.
Time to sort out the discipline Shaun!
(I'm travelling more in hope than expectation though)

He's a Wigan lad? What difference does that make?

It shouldn't.
To be fair to Burgess I think it's a lack of concentration, but they have been expensive. I'll go back to my hobby horse, no reserve or U23 matches for the coaches to work with him to get his confidence back. It was one of the worst decisions the RFL/Super League ever made.

A decision fully endorsed by our owner I believe. However, re Burgess some wanted him shipped out to Workington before the season started. I wasn't one of them and wanted him included because, last season, he was clearly ahead of Manfredi. The fact is he is miles off that form atm and surely Manfredi is breathing down his neck now?

I agree. The problems we have faced aren't down to the form of Burgess but ill-discipline with us conceding around 15 penalties a game. Some players are giving away as many penalties in a game as some entire teams are doing. These players are the ones who need to buck up!

Bingo, I think we just found common ground DaveO, a rarity!

I just think that this lack of discipline comes down to what happens on the training field.
We have seen comments that the brutality in training has been taken up a notch since Wane took over from Madge, we have the video in NZ last year when Wane made the mistake of letting the cameras into the dressing room whilst he told the team to go out and batter and hurt the opposition .
Also Liam Farrell was told he wasn't aggressive enough, he has gone from being a free running second row who could do the 80 min to being a penalty machine.
Matty Smith and Josh Charnley have both been involved in petty petulance which in Mattys case lead to a ban and Josh as been involved in the same type of thing.
I just think that the players are encouraged to be so aggressive in training and if it carries on to the pre match talk from the coach they are so wound up they are waiting for it to kick off.
I just hope that IL has had a chat with Wane to calm it and we see the benefit tomorrow, because if we don't calm it, more and more teams will be waiting to wind Wigan up.
