I hope we see somebody competent this weekend. Its good for logan to get game time, but i'm hoping we have a "recall anytime" clause written in. With someone as unpredictable as Micky Mac , who is prone to getting banned, we need a good cover hooker, as Logans shown he is in the 3 games hes stood in recently. I dont fancy relying on Powell and Williams for a full 80 minutes in the worst case scenario.

I think we'll see Powell, Williams and Hampshire all get 10+games in those pivotal #1, #6#, #7 and #9 positions as the season progresses.

Wigan will need to have a look at them there, before making final decisions on Bowen and Green and/or who we need to recruit.

Totally agree with that Rogues. It makes sense and they all have huge potential for our future.

He's a good-not-great hooker, plenty tackles and organises well enough. He's alright when he starts and plays most of the game. The problem is the intensity drops when he comes off the bench, and he'll never displace McIlorum as starting hooker. I think eventually he will move on and we'll end up with:

FB Hampshire

SO Powell
SH Smith

H McIlorum

S Williams

With Hampshire and Williams still qualified to play u19s I would think that we may like Green , Smith and Bowen to hang a round for another year before we think of handing over the jerseys permanently. We currently only have Sharrocks in the U19s who I feel has the ability to progress to the halves though Fell may come good as a running FB he won't provide the extra pivot that we curently play in that position.

Hasn't Green said in a couple of interviews he'll be off?

He said in an interview around the time of the WCC that he was very settled over here and would like to discuss staying. It surprised me a little as I'd also read the chances were he'd be off home.

Hopefully we'll keep a pretty settled side together for 2015. We can't afford for another 4 or 5 to walk through the door.

Cant really see a place for him at wigan this year so right decision

He's been excellent for us so far. For all the hype surrounding Noble's choices of player pre-season, we were left with very average Hooking options. He even sent our best young hooker away on a season long loan. Howarth is pap and Lee is only ever going to be a second string hooker. Tomkins has sped-up the ruck area and closed it down as a defensive weakness (If only we could plug the defence out wide!) so as a Salford fan, I'm more than happy to see him stay for the rest of the season.

He's played his best rugby for us when he's started and played long minutes. When he's spelled McIlorum and come on after half an hour there is always a noticeable drop in our intensity. Think he'll do a decent job for you and it wouldn't surprise me to see him come back to Wigan next season as a much better player.
