| I rather fancy it'll be difficult to outdo the masters of regular season mediocrity next week but good luck attempting to finish 4th.

| Given our record at the HJ, we are better trying to lose next week.
What a pathetic situation the RFL has got the sport in when you are better off losing.
Roll on 2015 and the top 4 playoffs

| Just like last year ' oh lets lose the last game so we dont have to face ' .....' what a joke!, No matter what the consequences I would never prefer to lose.
Take the young lads tonight despite the loss every one of them played their hearts out and i'm sure each would agree that a win is what's important.
I remember being at the final game last year and being embarrased at some of the people around me actually cheering when Saints beat us while wearing Wigan shirts and then had the cheek to celebrate us collecting the LLS.
The let's lose game backfired last year as we got an easy tie against Catalan and then when Leeds came in the semi we expected a similar results and then blew it by a single point.
Even if Wire did beat us in week 1 at least I'd hope we tried and would hope to get revenge should we then face them in the semi.
My advice to anyone with this 'let's lose' attitude regardless of the fact the RFL has a factor in it, why bother going on Thursday if you dont want to back your own team - not very ancient and loyal is it?

Well said. That said I think we will have as full a team out as we can because it is "Superman". That will take precedence over players not playing IMO.

| To be honest whatever happens against Leeds we have a tough game. We haven't beaten either this year. I would hope we put a full strength team out barring on or two if carrying injuries as IMO win or loose they would benefit from the game before the play offs.
I can't get my head round the idea of wanting us to loose, I have to say though I won't be devistated if we do.

| This wouldn't be an issue and would set next weeks game up nicely if we had a sensible play off format where u gained an advantage for every place higher you finish.

| Such mind games extend to the play off first week, if we lose it doesn't matter as we get a second shot. How the hell did the game get in this situation?

| Why so frightened of Wire , they are not the team they were 2 years ago and in my opinion are not as good as Huddersfield apart from when they play Huddersfield if you understand the logic

| We've won twice in the last 4 seasons at Wire, hardly horrific stats or reasons not to go there. Just win next week them beat Wire the week after.

| Although it would be advantagous, I wouldn't deliberately to lose, I'd use the Leeds game as a chance for some of these young lads to claim a shirt
FB 1 S.Tomkins
RW 34 Burgess
RC 22 Gelling
LC 17 Thornley
LW 5 Richards
SO 6 Green
SH 24 S.Powell
P 26 Crosby
H 23 L.Tomkins
P 10 Mossop
SR 11 Hansen
SR 12 Farrell
LF 13 O'Loughlin
S 16 Tuson
S 20 Dudson
S 32 Hampshire
S 38 A.Powell
I'm starting to wonder if Burgess is better than Pat already, not really an option though unless Rocky plays due goalkicking.
Best of Gelling and Thornley gets the LC spot in the play offs.
Best of Hampshire, S.Powell/L.Tomkins gets a bench spot. In fact if Green doesn't play well I'd consider dropping him, sticking Hampshire at 6 and S.Powell/L.Tomkins on the bench.
Best of Crosby/Dudson/A.Powell gets the last prop spot alongside Flower, Mossop and Taylor

| You guys tell Saints fans all that FIOS stuff and when it comes to the playoffs you poop yourselves about going to Warrington and talk about throwing a game to avoid us.
Most other teams will look at Warrington and say they are the playoff bottlers of Super League and half their team is over 35 and will be running on empty at this stage of the season but the pieeaters are too traumatised by all those defeats in recent years.
I wonder what great Wiganers like Shaun Edwards and Dean Bell would say if someone had asked should Wigan throw a game against Leeds to avoid having to go to Warrington.
Well the good news for us is if Wigan are mentally beaten before the playoffs even start then maybe 2013 is Year of the Wolfs?

The bookies make Warrington favourites to win the GF, with Wigan narrowly second, so it makes sense to want to avoid the favourites in the first round.

| You do get an advantage for finishing further up the table.
Finish 1-4 you get a second bite of the cheery if you lose week one.
Finish 1 or 2 you get a home tie
Finish 1 you play 4 which "should" be easier than 2 playing 3 like wise it's better to finish 3 instead of 4 cos you play a lower placed team
Finish 5 or 6 you get a home tie again higher you finish the lower the ranking of the team you play.
This year you have decided amongst your self that going to Huddersfield will be easier than Warrington. This is not the RFL's fault.
