I posted on another thread, the issue now isn't whether he's coming, it's more about sorting who will be coming instead and trying to announce both simultaneously.

Edwards will make his decision soon. He'll have to if he wants a job in RU, or they'll just offer them somewhere else. Clearly Wigan are leaving it up to him to officially decide and announce that the RL deal is dead (which is fair enough in some ways, given that he's the one who killed it, not them). But Wigan are unlikely to have sourced a replacement by then, as, at the very least, they'll need to let Lam try out for it.



That's assuming Lam wants it, of course. If he genuinely doesn't, then that's different.

I agree, but if we were now to say: 'Lammy, the job's still yours till the end of the year. But even though you'd now like to be considered for it full-time, we're still going to be looking for someone else,' that's not much of an incentive for 2019.



It's a mess, but unless Lammy really doesn't want the job next year, I don't see what option we've got but to offer it to him - IF he gets the results.

Not sure that is the entire reason why SE has reneged on the idea of coaching us but Rich Hunwicks is world class in every way and even if SE doesn't come we should certainly be looking at him, I had no idea he was wanting to leave Catalan!

He probably isn't but it is a nice excuse for Edwards to use as a "get out clause".

This is dragging on far too long now, stuff him time for the club to stand up remember its fecking wigan rugby club and either ask Lam if he wants to stay or get on and appoint someone who actually wants the job

Top SL teams map out their recruitment targets for the next season early and start negotiations early so as to have them recruited, we may well be missing out here.

It is a real mess. Hard to see a way this plays out where the fans understand which direction the club is going. I would fancy a wager on SE being announced elsewhere before the club addresses anything.



Rich Hunswick is absolutely everything the club should be looking at, if he is available we should most certainly be looking to recruit him.

Admittedly and rather naively I don’t know a great deal about him other than what other posters have said so I’ll just have to take people’s word on him. But as the saying goes “there’s no smoke without fire” the smoke being he’s a top drawer coach, I’ll agree he is someone we should be looking to recruit regardless of whether it’s under Lam/SE/A.Nother.



I’m in agreement about the club direction. I personally feel like we’ve been too soft over the years starting with the “come back to us if it doesn’t work out” policy with the only player it genuinely working out for was ST. We’re now at that stage with SE, essentially the message we’re giving is “if you can’t get a better deal in RU, come to us”. It looks desperate and certainly not what one of the biggest names in RL should be doing. You wouldn’t see the Man Utd’s/Liverpool’s/Barcelona’s of this world even remotely consider it. Look closer to home nor would you see Warrington or Saints do it either. I’m sure it’ll get dressed up by the club as loyalty but to us fans and opposing fans it looks like a desperation tactic.
