| Great result against men but fitness and speed paid off.
Comms were good with good insight from Jack Phillips
Logan Astley impressed me, faster than I thought he was. Always supporting the ball carrier. Kicked well and good tempo to his passing game. “Aiming to play 10 games this year”
Forber fast out of dummy half and tackled above his weight. Has he good a first team number this year?
Ekersly (spell) is a physically a lot bigger than I thought. “He’ll play a few games for us”
Hill was outstanding and Ellis and Mago should be looking over their shoulders.
Expected a little more from Sutton and Nsemba. Sutton seemed to lack skill in key moments and Nsemba only seemed to want good ball.
Silva won’t make it at Wigan.

I thought Forber was very good.
On that showing (plus the positive things you hear about the lad), i wouldn't be surprised to see Hill make more than a few appearances in the first team next season. Either that, or he'll be going out on loan to the Championship.

Nsemba hid for 35 minutes then seemed to come alive but I agree he needs to look for the tough carries more.
Silva I thought showed some nice touches…decent feet and physicality, but then produced some very poor bits of play through what seemed to be through losses of focus. Put the ball down a few times and poor defensive effort for the third try. Don’t want to write players off but I agree I don’t see him as having a long term future at Wigan.

I imagine Wigan have been a little scarred by the Nicholson episode so can see Nsemba and Hill being fast tracked to the first team this year.

| I was at the game and on live viewing I was really impressed with the lad at fullback defensively, Eckersley did really well second half, as did Astley and I thought Hill was very good throughout the game. The kid on the wing, who has just been promoted to the first team had a stormer second half. I thought the whole side were really brave. Fully grown men against boys and they withstood plenty early doors and came home strong. It was a really good day overall.

Sumner the full back put a good shot on to flatten a lad. Does Eckersley alway play Centre? Probably getting ahead of myself but if things don’t work out with King I’d be tempted giving him a few games. He looks like he has a bit to fill out but looks good. Reminds me of a young Jack Hughes. Few of those lads look like they have a bit of filling out to do but are showing great promise.
Astley was stand out for me. Looked to be popping up everywhere and did great to create chances

Of everybody on the pitch Eckersley for me showed the most indications of class.
Few injections of real quality at key times.combined with a wicked change of pace.
Looked like he could comfortably cover the centres, wings and fullback positions.

| Eckersley is in a great position in terms of getting minutes when you consider that he can play fullback, centre and wing and than add in that he can kick goals. He got better and better as the game went on. He’s got a great frame to build on as well.

Sounds that way. You’d imagine guys like Miski, Mago, O’Neill and Shorrocks would be involved.

| A good first hit up for the young lads. The standouts were Hill, Forber and Astley but there were good showings from most including all the first team fringe players once they'd settled into the game in that 2nd half.
Forber will be of interest to those wanting a hooker who can scoot as he seems to have this in spades.
Silva was interesting. He had some good touches, particularly around his offloading ability, but I can't help thinking that maybe he's a little on the small side for prop. I wonder if, given his work rate and offloading ability, if he wouldn't be better from the back row?
