I dont think that is the case, some fans resented the idea of merger clubs, quite rightly, I mean there was plenty on the table, and I think Mo would have been happy to see them in the final run, but for a large campaign against that part.

That was a great tournament. Remember watching England/Fiji at Central Park and it was packed.

Fast forward to the 2000 edition and it was a nightmare.

I know it's not like for like and there's more of a back story with Mo, but Wigan paid respects when the son of the new Latics owner died. Like I said it's not in the same ball park, but showed a touch of class for someone not related to the club in anyway way, never mind a former chairman.

Saints fans jeering and singing through the minutes applause for him last night too. Just shows what we already know about both sets of fans. Warrington usually get my ire for their behaviour towards away fans but Saints have just taken their crown. I have never liked St Helens because they are our dearest rivals but I always respected them as a rival but after all these years of them having my respect, they can respectfully swivel on it. I said at the time that an applause rather than a silence was a good idea given the two teams involved and their hatred of all things Wigan, but then you could still hear the song coming through. At least it wasn't anything aimed at him personally.

You know what, Wigan get loads of stick from fans. The "evil club", "no class" & "arrogance" etc, but when you see stuff like this it doesn't add up.

I look how the club recognised Ratchford after his testimonial game, or how they've celebrated Burrow. The club go above the petty stuff that tarnishes fans (lord knows I've thrown mud).

The moron's on Redvee and Latics need to take a long hard look at themselves.

I don’t think there’s a club that does more to show it’s class than Wigan at the moment. It’s driven by Rads by the looks of things and it’s something he can be extremely proud of. Every players milestones are celebrated, regardless of the club they play for.
