I meant during a game in which Field started on the wing

Is there any option for Field, that doesn't involve completely rearranging our side?'"
Exactly. It's just not something you would do.
I did say during the GB tour that when we were attacking towards the end and needing to score, that it seemed strange to leave Austin stood on the wing so I could see why if we were trailing we may move him inside when we have the ball and play effectively with 4 halves, but we wouldn't have either a winger or a centre though, so again it seems daft.

I don’t think he will start on the wing and move to half.
I don’t expect him to be anywhere near the wing.
The obvious switch if it were to happen though would be Bateman to centre Hardaker to wing, or Hardaker to fullback French to wing.

| "Why do we have a coach", ask Rads as it was he from the club who touted the idea of Field playing on the wing.
I and others have mentioned it on here but it's stretching the imagination to suggest the club take any notice of what's written on here.
Field could play on the wing but wherever he plays his pace is going to cause opposition real problems let's hope his threat is maximised.

French and Field would both be wasted on the wing however wouldnt surprise me to see Field given a wing spot in his early matches.

French played on the wing a number of times this season and went very well.
Seem to remembering him scoring some great tries playing on the wing.
He didn’t start the game on the wing however moved there mid game with Hardaker moving to 1.

That's not so much of a deal though with Zak and Bibby moving into arguably better positions.
Moving Bateman to centre and Olly to the wing just doesn't seem a sensible option.

Sod that, I remember Bateman playing centre for England. Fair enough he made good metres coming out of yardage but he hadn't a clue what to do with an overlap. Can't remember either way what he was like defensively.

| Perhaps we are just miss guided in looking at the game in the terms of outmoded recidivistic, patriarchal and gender stereotyped positions. The game may have move on to the point where all players play every position at every moment. If you think in those terms then you can fit any player into any position, problem solved.

I do like the move Toulouse have where Bretherton (prop) sneaks over to the wing and barges over. It's so basic and teams would get wise to it if you did it every week but it would be a great trick play to use now and again with Singleton or Bullock.

| Monie did that with Andy Platt. Andy would go onto the right wing sometimes and run over whoever the opposition or wingman was. That stopped when Inga arrived. No need then for a prop on the wing. Same effect though!

| Frano played on the wing to get used to our structures/the game and moved inside eventually. There’s a danger we can try and be too clever with things but the game’s changed and if we can get away with a fast half back spending a bit of time on the wing I’m not dead against it.
