| This is just ridiculous and embarassing. Is it any wonder why we’ve played like we have when we’ve all this uncertainty and rumour about the club? Players don’t know whether they’re coming or going, who’s really coaching them (SE or AL). Fans are turned off in their thousands. Voices of discontent about the place.
I’m not at the “IL OUT!!!” stage like some posters are, though I can understand why they are but he needs to come out with the full truth to the fans. He owes us that. I’d have more respect for him if he came out saying “We were going to sign it, we said it was signed to sell more season tickets but the contract still isn’t signed yet” and was honest than came out with b0110cks soundbites to appease the fans.

| Edwards has done the right thing, the club simply have to comment now. Silence would be commercial suicide. I absolutely believe Shaun had the right intentions to come and coach the club, so if things don't work out the buck lies with IL.
You have to wonder though, with this episode now being played out in public - will the relationship have soured to the point it is already untenable, regardless of the contract situation?

| Quote P-J="P-J"Oh c'mon, don't be drawn in by Edwards spouting off to the media.
He's clearly got a job at Wigan from 2020, but fancies he can get something better elsewhere.'"
He clearly hasnt. If no contract was signed and is still not signed at this point, it is only natural for Edwards to be wondering where the hell he stands. Even Lenegan himself floated the idea that Edwards may not come a month or two ago. If what Edwards has said is true then the blame lies fully with Lenegan.
Even if what you say is true and Edwards fancies he can get something better elsewhere then it is still Lenegans fault for not getting Edwards to sign a contract when he had the chance.

Which could potentially result in a lawsuit for misrepresentation.

| Quote Bigredwarrior="Bigredwarrior"I think this is a separate issue to the performance against Warrington. We did improve and I too was upbeat. I still feel the same way and I still have faith in Adrian Lam to get us to the play offs.
I’m angry that club appear to have taken us for mugs about Edwards but he was implicit in that by doing the 30 minute interview on Sky where he deliberately gave us all the impression he’d signed. If it’s true and I don’t see how it won’t be, Edwards and the club share equal responsibility for it. The players are not at fault in this and I’ll back them to turn the season round, starting with a win on Sunday.'"
Hopefully it is for the players but as a fan it just seems to be one mess after another at the moment and having the fans on side and behind the club as a whole is huge.
This mess will already be having a knock on effect for 2020 in regards to rentention and recruitment. The notion that Lenagan has been shipping all our high earning players out as a way of funding a huge splurge for the start of the Edwards revolution looks dead. All the major players will be making plans for their signings right now but we won’t be able to do that, well at least not with the backing of our coach as we don’t know who it is.

| What a total disgrace from the club.
Fair play to Shaun for clearing things up, describing signing for Wigan as an 'option' was actually doing Wigan a favour rather than the truth which would expose how unprofessional the club has become.
Edwards is dead right to use to Media as a sounding board, after all he needs to put it out there that's he'll be looking for a job in 2020 as he'll be unemployed. What world are Wigan Warriors living in? Parading a former playing legend, the highest profile coach we've had possibly ever around the pitch, splashing it across the media and then not even sorting out the contract?
Who else would said nothing if they'd be promised a job then heard nothing for 9 months? What a joke.
So what else does this tell us? Tells us Edwards hasn't been part of planning for 2020, isn't part of discussions for recruitment...the list goes on.
Also makes me wonder who is making the signings, and what actually is in place for 2020.
I can't think of a time when it's been this much of a mess.

| It does seem very odd for Wigan to not have signed a contract with Edwards before announcing him as coach. You have to ask yourself, even if a contract was offered to be signed, would Edwards want it after being left in limbo for so long?
Seems all is not well with Wigan, WCC to nowhere (at the moment)

| Does a verbal agreement not count legally?
Serious question.
I don't believe for one minute that there has been no communication for months between Edwards, Lenangan, Lam and Radlinski.

| I’m not one to go overboard with things like this, and I’m usually willing for each party to have their say on matters before getting out the pitchfork...! But they really need to say something sharpish (like today).
If it comes to light that the club have gone back on the Edwards agreement - for whatever reason - god help ST sales next season. The current administration will be finished.

Don’t know about you, but if I was changing employer I’d want a piece of paper with my wage, T&Cs, etc all clearly laid out. Not some word of mouth “we’ll sort it later” agreement.

| I spoke to a onetime leading prosecution judge in the UK about this last night ...he went freelance later as Mr loophole.
He said there is no contract and in the remarks about a verbal contract, he said it wouldn't anywhere near a court and the even if they tried the whole thing would collapse of the issue that IL deferred a written contract without clarity and raises the concerns that SE expected it as binding.

You could argue Torte law, but that is a minefield. Seems to me like either Lenegan doesn't want Edwards, or Edwards doesn't want Lenegan.
First time I have ever felt remotely sorry for Wigan fans.
