| Quote: tugglesf78 "He's only 30.
I would chuck a 3 (+1 year option) contract his way, no problem. He has been (touch wood) very robust since he has been over here and i cant remember him being injured for a spell.
It is priceless having an old head in the middle of the park. When that old head is constantly giving orders, encouragement and ear bashing's to those who need it it is such a valuable contribution.
Even better that the person doing all the chatter appears to be a very popular member of the squad.
The thing about Finchy is that he refuses to let a player who has made a mistake go into their shell. Couple of time yesterday when Hughes made an error, or read the play wrong. Brett was straight over there an in his ear. I dont mean for a one sentence "chin up young'un" either, he walked all the way back to the half way line muttering constant advice.
His reading of the game, outstanding passing, vision and rough defense are like extra cherry's on the cake.
He is better than Lam (big statement) and could be held in the same regard if he is here for a longer period.'"
Finch has the ability to make everyone around him play even better. He is priceless to this team.
I would say he is as good as Barrett but without the pace and ability to back up down the middle. His passing, kicking, organisation, reading of the game etc is superb. The best 6 in super league by a distance.

| Wane salutes Finch
“Finchy turns up when you need him to,” said Wane. “Not many players do that to Paul Wellens.
“If there is a chance of hanging on to him I’d be keen to. There’s lots of time left. He’s enjoying his rugby and I’m enjoying watching him.
“We’re speaking to him and his agent.
“I don’t know where it’s going to end up but, if I get hold of Brett Finch for next year, I’ll be really happy.”

| I wouldn't just be surprised, I'd be astonished if Finch is wearing anything other than Cherry & White next season.

I think you are reading too much into what SW is saying, he is probably just telling it like it is. He will know that negotiations are ongoing, but there is nothing to say on the matter, just comment on how he is playing and how he is an asset to the squad.

| Finchy will go where the money is and we should throw more than Hull/Saints/whoever are throwing at him. He's pivotal to our team, must have a hand in about 90% of our tries.

| Is he motivated by money or by winning? I'd be very disappointed if he left just for more money in SL, because he is currently with a young and improving squad, and can be a massive influence in winning trophies with Wigan over the next couple of years. I can't see Saints or Hull being in the running for silverware anytime soon.

| give him a 2 year with an option of a further year in clubs favour, as well as a coaching option on good terms to offset any shortfall in playing wage to keep us well within the salary cap... His organisation skills alone are worth every penny we pay him at the moment.....

| If he goes to Saints I'd be amazed - he would know how that would completely ruin his good standing amongst the Wigan fans.
Hull or the NRL could be possibilities if the contracts on offer are better.
I do get the impression he wants to stay at Wigan but he understandably has to balance this with the need to get the most financially out of what may be his last playing contract.

| i'd liek to think he won't sign anywhere for "the money" unless that team wins soemthing this year and shows the potential for him to be part of a winning team there. so if Hull are one of the rumoured clubs, IMO they need to win something this year and i can't see that happening to be honest.
i can see leeds winning either the CC or GF again this year, but they don't need a 6 so for me, he stays at Wigan and i hope he does too! for me, he has been better for the club than Trent was, despite the hindrances TB may have had in his time here.
and anyone who can make a joke about not running that far for his try since he was a kid for me shows what a personality he is and how much the club should try to seal a further deal pronto! its not just a performance on the pitch that has an effect ont he squad, its behind the scenes as well. lockers is one of my all time fave players but you can always see finch organising, ranting, giving directions to the younger players. he's a class act all around and currently invaluable to the team.
sam who?

He's not a Wiganer, so I cannot see how this would affect him in truth.
It will probably be his last big contract, so he's going to look at making that as lucrative as he can and who can blame him for that?

| I love Finchy and hope he signs for another 2-3 years, but I can't believe people are putting in him in the same bracket at Barrett. Put Barrett into this side and we would be almost untouchable.
