| after all the bickering on this subject i would just like to say as a wigan fan and rugby league fan i thouroughly enjoyed the match.sinfield was outstanding and peacocks performance for a prop was second to none.for once children put your differences aside and treat the game in the manner it deserves.

| That was a great game of rugby and Leeds were deserving winners. The atmosphere sounded great. At times I wanted to be there to enjoy the atmosphere. Its always great to see the Aussies get beat! They were gutted after the game so don't anyone say that they didn't want to win and that it was just a pre-season warm up game etc blah blah blah. The winners can smile and the losers can please their self!

St George were a far better team than the 2012 Manly team so no comparison there really. Lets also not forget that the goons at HQ were very lenient on some of your players after the game at DW which enabled Leeds to be at virtually full strength.
I would bet my last pound that had this game been played in Australian after the GF, Leeds would be on the plane home with their ar*es handed back to them on a plate......a bit like the journey home last week I guess

There is a comparison.
Both won the NRL GF and both have some world class players.
Leeds beat a champion team in a very convincing fashion. Granted Manly looked pretty jaded in that first half but Leeds never let them play.
The second half performance gave glimpses of what they had to offer, but again Leeds did enough to see them off.
I am quite happy to forget provincial rivalry’s when it is about playing the Ockers.
Was the WCC challenge a “glorified” friendly when we beat Manly, Brisbane and Penrith?........thought not.

FWIW though, while last night was a tough game for us, in my eyes it still is a glorified friendly. Manly were underdone, anyone could see that. As much as they wanted to win, they knew this was a part of their season preparations. If they [ireally[/i wanted it last night, I believe they could have seen us off in clinical fashion.

My point is that until we play the NRL winners at THEIR PEAK & IN THEIR OWN BACK YARD there is no comparison. Simply showing glimpses isn't good enough. Ill put it this way, after watching Wigan pre season and against Huddersfield did you see last week performance coming? No, because pre season is for blowing off the cobwebs and getting your timing right and fitness levels.
Manly were not at their best because they had not had the same prep Leeds has had. Peter Peters admitted Manly's prep had been woeful. Lets play the WCC at the back end of October and alternate the venue then there can be no doubts as to who is the best team in thee World - Lets face it, anybody who thinks Leeds are the best team in the world are kidding themselves. Yes, Leeds earned the right to play in this game by winning the comp last year but even with my red & white tinted glasses on I can catagorically state that Warrington were the best team in the comp last year. We caught them on an off day in the CC and you did the same in the play-offs. Some might even say Warrington choked on both occasions but they were still the best team in the comp.
Leeds deservedly won the WCC as they were the better team on the night, but it doesn't mean they are the best team in the world. Australia are the best team in the world by a country mile...it doesn't mean they win everything.
Not bitterness GCM just fact.
