If we were 2nd in the table I would be but being 6 points clear and seeing your play off rivals still sweating on not only but league as well could work out to be a huge blessing for us in terms of the league. We won't know though till 8pm on October 2nd,'"
Correct me if I’m wrong but was 2006 the last time someone won both the challenge cup and the super league in the form of St Helens?
Since then Saints have won the challenge cup in 07,08 and appeared in the grand final only to fall to Leeds. I think them two years have created the myth more than ever that a good challenge cup run hinders your grand final chances.
Leeds have helped that myth further by having a bad challenge cup run as well. Wigan are the same this year in terms of the cup run and looking to win the championship.
It’ll be interesting to see if this years challenge cup winners can go on to win the super league grand final as 3 of the 4 semi finalist have a chance of doing so.
Either way if Leeds don’t retain the championship this year it’ll be for the good of the game but I just can’t see it. My theory on Wigan is you’ve improved you’re league form but come play off time there’s a good chance you’ll be exposed as the third best team in the country once again.
Good luck and I hope I get proven wrong

Want to see my lists?
Leeds deserve to be below them two when it comes to fear because its 2010 not 2009. I’m not going to make excuses for the way Leeds have performed this year in the league but you’ve got to admire our challenge cup run.

That's right BUT Saints were top and clear top going into that 2006 cup final. Thats a huge difference to this year where they are third and still having to battle for a home game, just like Warrington whilst Leeds are fighting for fourth. They didn't have to sweat on the league position that August.

Agreed,
I was totally gutted when we went out of the cup. Now ive come to think of it as a blessing in disguise, as the break has come just at the right time. Although given the chance id still rather be in a CC semi anyday.

Agreed x 2.
But ateotd, we lost to Leeds at Headingley. Wire haven't had a game that hard in this years comp, or last years. Luck of the draw innit.

| Quote: Deano G "Oh dear. The gloating has started a little early in Direland - the assumption clearly being that the Wolfs will be progressing to Wembley. How massively disrespectful to the Catalans and how typical of the misplaced arrogance of the Wolfs. Just when you thought Leeds had the stupidest fans in SL title sewn up, up pops the OP to put Dire fans right back in contention for the award for conspicuous muppetry.
At least with Saints fans (I can't believe I'm about to type this, but really Whino and Dire fans have driven me to this!) you get a reasonable quality of trolling and general banter (especially following the departure of my old sparring partner Badwanger from the scene
For goodness sake, no we do not think Sunday is a given win, but as for your comment "reasonable quality of trolling and general banter" you have been done up like a kipper... I am a Wire fan and am as nervous ablout Sunday as any match so ignore the ones looking for the bite!
Enjoy being top of the league! (I know I would!)

| I'll be watching extended in-depth analysis of Wire's previous trophy winning seasons.
Reet, that's 9:00 until five past on Saturday sorted. As for the rest of the weekend, I'll be decorating and looking forward to seeing something shiny at the Pie Dome next weekend.

You seem to have an unhealthy outlook on whenever teams sweat or not
I still insist that the difference this year compared to other years is Wigan’s league form. Come the play off’s you’ll be as good as they come just have you always have been when in the play offs in recent years. Last year in particular you went better than three teams above you in the table (Huddersfield, Hull KR &Wakefield). However Catalan Dragons had a more remarkable play off run in 2009.
But the past few years have seen you not doing so well in the league as your doing this year. Come play off time who knows what will happen?
Less of this mystic meg stuff anyways of what’s going to happen. We’re like a pair of squabbling Psychics chancing our arm on who’ll be grand final winners. Either way it'll be intresting
Finally I’d just like to thank you for the rugbyleagueontv website you run
