| I was at the game today in Wrexham.
Eddy played No. 10, was aggressive, ran in hard and straight and has an offload. Tackled Billy Slater out of the match!
The 62-0 score does the USA a bit of an injustice IMO. Two Aussies tries before half time came off the back of some very poor refereeing in my opinion.
The Aussies scored after the kick off at the start of the game getting the ball back after it bounced off the posts as well.
Not the sort of bad luck you need when playing the Aussies.
That said the USA never looked like scoring. They got close to the Aussie line several times but the USA no 6 was useless when they did and didn't look like he had a clue.
Anyway back to Eddy. Looked really good to me and really took the ball to the Aussies. As Jonh said he is aggressive . Very much looking forward to seeing him in the Cherry 'n While next season.

That wasn't Eddy it was a sub No.15.
I really like the look of Pettybourne full of work, I'd be wry surprised if he isn't starting at Prop in the majority of our games next season.

Thought it was Eddy but fair enough. I agree with what you say for next season. Looking forward to watching him play for us.

| Has looked OK throughout the tournament and i'm sure he will improve once he is fully match fit , but i think the fella that saints have signed 'masoi' (spelling may be wrong) looks a better proposition, he has looked awesome

Been really impressed with Pettybourne - I can see why we have signed him, particularly with his controlled aggression and thats good to see with a young pack of forwards.
Masoi will clearly be a fans favourite and will fill the gap vacated by TP but I do wonder if he could be exposed in defence? big man to put down and I think he will do really well in Super League.
Overall though the Wigan pack is looking very strong but I think that it will be Hopkins who will surprise most Wigan fans next season - he really is an important signing and a player our rivals would love to have in their squad.

Controlled aggression is a good way to sum up the way Pettybourne played today I think. I took a mate of mine to the game as I had two free tickets. He is a Saints fan and said at one point something like "Well you have lost Hock so I suppose you need another thug" and that made me smile because he wasn't a thug at all but was, as you say aggressive.

| As I posted immediately after the game the thing that impressed me about him was his ability to offload successfully whilst stood up in the tackle. I counted three occasions in a short space of time that he did it and remember whilst being held by Aussie forwards at that. It is an ability that has been sorely lacking in our forwards for some time and I can see Bowen & Co having a field day following his drives.

| Quietly impressed with EP think he'll do well.
The Saints new lad I can see being great going forward but suspect the more cleverer hookers will milk a fair few yards out of him.

He'll hate playing against Roby in training and he'll have nightmares about Rob Burrow.

| I detect a very different attitude to our signing of Eddy Pettybourne than existed a few weeks ago when I posted the following:-
[iFor the life of me I cannot understand all the doubting Thomas's on here regarding the signing of Pettybourne. Here is a guy who, a little over a year ago, had two NRL clubs fighting for his signature. Previous to that he had been tearing it up for a number of years for one of those clubs. AND HE IS STILL ONLY 25 YEARS OF AGE.
Now the season just ended has not been the best for him, for what reason I do not know. Loss of form, injuries, the calibre of his new team mates or a combination of the three. What I do know is that he has shown he has the ability to shine in a far tougher competition than ours and that he is young enough to recover from any loss of form or injuries. Have the faith. Do you not think that Madge would have warned the club if he thought we were making a duff signing?[/i

| In Masoe I think Saints will have another Feka on their hands, with all the pros and cons that go with it.
