| Not read the whole thread but saint simons arrogance sums it up! What about the teams battling for the 8th spot? Teams who would really better financially from getting that spot? Not saying what Wigan did today was totally wrong but some of these so called big clubs fans attitudes.....

| Resting players is fine, resting 5 in one game, was a mistake from Wane, but no surprise whatsoever that he didnt hold his hands up, whilst at times his arrogance/confidence is his biggest strength, I do wonder if it could be his biggest downfall as well.
Russell will be an outstanding player, and needs to be nurtured with a view to replacing Sam.
Mellor will never be good enough to lead a Wigan team around the pitch in SL and Logan Tomkins is at Wigan purely because of his surname.
We were utterly clueless at times today, no more so than when McIllorum went off and Finch was almost like a one man band, we could have snuck it with Josh's kick, but the pressure got to him I think.
As long as lessons are learned, we will be okay, but it was a great chance to rack up some points & good practice, as it is, the London game has suddenly become much more important.

| Quote: sally cinnamon "Why would the RFL fine Wigan?
Today was much better for the game than if a full strength Wigan had beat Widnes 44-10 or whatever. It gives Widnes fans some hope for the season and brings excitement to the game.'"
I didn't realise it was Wigan's job to throw crumbs of comfort to Widnes. The whole idea of sport is to win, not to front some jolly little PR exercise.
But more to the point what about the other clubs down the lower end who we play who won't be given the same chance to win against us? It is not fair on the likes of London that we play a reserve side against Widnes and will now most likely play the full strength team against them because we won't want to drop another two points.
Quote: sally cinnamon "It might have annoyed the Wigan fans that they have lost but at least Wigan have got faith in their young players, a lot of other clubs wouldn't produce the high quality youngsters that Wigan do so couldn't pick a squad like this.'"
What annoys the Wigan fans is every man and his dog knows we would have won that game if Wane had not screwed up because when it comes to home grown talent we are already playing plenty of that week in, week out as it is. So there was just no need to do what he did and the lesson to be learnt here is for Wane to learn.
Wane had the chance to steer his side to the top of the league and so I do think it is arrogance on his part to risk not doing so because it shows disregard for what the supporters want. He may think its smart to try and play the long game but really given we are only five games in there was no need to rest anyone. He would have done far better to introduce just one youngster and have won the game comfortably. He would have got credit for giving the young player a game and for taking the side to the top of the league.

| Meant to make the point that if widnes were to sneak into 8th at end of season, this game could be the difference for a few clubs battling for playoffs.

| The past two years under Madge were great cos every game was treated as though it mattered. God forbid we are going back to the Noble era were the philosophy of the season starting in August was the mantra.

Well aint that a shame? Those teams should make sure themselves that they are in the 8, not rely on Wigan to beat their rivals pathetic!! Are Wigan warriors to blame for world war 1 in your eyes too?
What a ridiculous statement.

| I think " Disrespect " is the right word, there are no easy games in SL, I could see Tommy was carrying a knock last week so understand him being left out but if there were no other injuries bad call.
Last season MM always played his best team.
I'm sure Denis Betts team talk was pretty straight forward once the teams were announced.
Pity after the last 3 performances.
The thing about mistakes is that you have got to learn from them.
Think we might be back to full strength next week.
No matter what is said to the press and I heard SW on Radio Manchester travelling back from the game, I think he knows he has made a big mistake today, anyway lets move on and well played Widnes.

| What I don't get is Wane's comments about wanting to win EVERY game and slating Madge pre season saying we lost games that I think we should have won. He then picks a team like that!
On form, Wigan should have been sat at the top of SL with a huge points difference. Instead there is the prospect of being 5th in the league.

| Coach Wane would have learnt some very valuable lessons from today, next weeks team selection and performance will be very different imo,
I think and hope he takes some responsibility regarding todays performance but in slight defence the coach does fall off and miss tackle.imo

The Communist Cap - dragging down success and aspiration to the levels of those who cba.: |
|
| I honestly can't see what the problem is.
Wane fields some young players against a relatively weak club. It ends up costing us the game.
So what?
The regular round friendlies are the ideal time to experiment.

If you don't bother to go to the game when you live in the locality then you are not really a fan and therefore your views are invalid. It's simple.:icons39ad_files/4821-1859san_c-msnicons.jpg |

With you on this Brett.... I can't see the issue. Sadly we have to work within the Cap, so the sooner we learn how these youngsters respond the better. Would you rather that they came in for a first game in the frickin playoffs!!!! These lads are around the first team all week, they will know the plays and the setup. BUT, its in a game situation where you find out how people react. Thats what they are doing. Wise up people and smell the coffee!!! Some of these young men will be the backbone of our team for the next ten years. Get behind them, and the coach. Incidently, i don't believe for one moment that Wane will not have discussed this with IL. They will have known the risks.
