They are not Super League Champions as that is determined by the GF, but they have won the league (small l) element of Super League (big L).

You'd think that after 14 years people would finally have grasped the concept that we are not starting a new competition next week.

There's no mention in my post of teams not winning anything, simply that receiving the lls is not winning the league whether any of us like it or not!

Good point, like was stated our average gate is bigger than what the HJ holds. A small club comes to mind.

It's not difficult: the Shield is the trophy awarded to the team finishing in first position in the league after the regular rounds.

It does not equate to "winning the league" since the primary purpose of the regular rounds is to determine who qualifies for the play-offs. The Shield gives some recognition to the team that has earned the most points, but it is a minor title.

That said, it is still worth having - there are only 3 trophies on offer to SL sides, and Wire fans are entitled to be happy about winning the Shield, even if it is the least prestigious of the 3.

Well done for having the best gates in SL, maybe one or two other clubs should take up some of the initiatives you've introduced over the past couple of years. I'm talking about Cas, Wakefield, Huddersfield (especially them), Quins. Saints and Salford should get a good increase next year, HKR and Les Cats can maintain decent gates and Hull's crowds will increase if they get a bit of success. The return of Widnes should also improve overall aggregate gates, they should get 8,000 for most games and a full house for Wire, Wigan, and Saints.

Probably time to stop the Wigan - Wire cocck measuring fellas. It's done for about 15 threads in the last week or so.

Funnily enough, the same applies 100% for yourselves and the challenge cup. People in glass houses etc.

I would for one Wire like to say Congrats, wigan have a great nubmer of fans turn up week in week out (admittedly some leave earlier than the rest

) I only hope that our new ground and expansion will push our crowds up and that we can try and expand again, hoping to even match or better your support.

It's good to see that SL is still alive and well despite all the naysayers(sp?).

I think we all agree the systen is flawed,otherwise there wouldnt be so much debate,end of the day there are 3 cups up for grabs challenge cup.league leaders shield and grand final two have been won already the 3rd is up for grabs,for me the team with the most cups at the end of the year takes the bragging rights,if there was a 4th for best attendance then there would only be one outcome
