| Quote: Owdpopularsider "But Elland Rd is still in Leeds isnt it? The problem weve got is PROBABLY the DW isnt big enough, but we dont have another stadium in the town. By moving the game into another town just means extra costs for fans and would probably mean not even getting the same amount of Wigan fans in the ground.
The DW with 25K screaming fans is a very intimidating place to be for an away side. Jusy ask previous Aussie touring parties.'"
I see what you mean but Leeds isn't exactly a small place. Some people have to travel 10-15 miles or more to get to the grounds. Surely that's similar to you guys going to Manchester or Liverpool?

| I went for Australia simply because the competition needs more international credibility and recognition and imo the way to achieve that is by alternating the venue and Wigan are brave enough to do that.
Having said that, Jimmy Birts makes a really good point about having a great Wigan moment in the Robin Park Stadium ala Manly.

| Has to be at Robin Park IMO. 25k is not enough some people are saying. Yes we could possibly sell more, but you would be looking at pos another 5k, which when balanced against the cost of hiring anfield etc. would not be worth it.
We're goin to end up goin anfield anyway to beat the other saints next year so why go twice? For me 25k is more than enough.
So what if a few glory boys cant get a ticket the week before the game cos its sold out. Be their own fault for not getting tickets...... The real Wigan RL fans will be there and have their tickets bought weeks before, along with probably another 10k glory boys anyway! As long as the proper fans get a ticket and we sell out I couldnt give a stuff, and Wigan ticks both of these boxes and more importantly gives us the game at HOME!
How great will that atmosphere be....like the grand final but magnified!! A lot of wiganers will have the monday booked off work I would think

You mean the ones who havent bothered going for the last few years? If we sold out 25,000 there would be many who rarely go so I dont give a crap about the rest. If it has to be in this country it has to be the DW.

| From what I've seen on an another forum there is a lot of Dragon supporter's heading over.
While this is bragging right's for the club's involved report's from when Manly played Leed's they had a great time with the leed up to the game and can only hope that you guy's are the same for them.

| What makes everyone think we would sell out 25k so easily? If the tickets are done by the RFL then it might not be so easy.

We took more than that to Old Trafford, even without taking into account any Dragons fans and neutrals that would come along.
I still want it at the DW, though.

| At the DW stadium, Season Ticket holders to get priority (2 per ST ticket) doing that would control the flow of tickets to real Wiganers, after that general sale.
Plus it may encourage a few more to purchase Season Tickets.

| These events are run by the RFL so anybody could be in your seat if your in east/west as they go on open sale straight away but no club this millenium has staged the WCC at thier home ground so this mite change this year if we stage it at DW let season ticket holders have the first 2 weeks (2 per ticket) than let them go if your on the ticket database at the ticket office for the next week then open sale to anybody else but saying that how many neutrals will be there.

| Season tickets holders won't get any priority whatsoever. It's an RFL event and they will control the tickets and the prices. Expect to pay considerably more than normal given the need for them to cover some considerable costs as well as make a tidy return.

| I see on the totalrl sites poll they have Millenium magic weekend down as an option. What do people think of that?
rlhttps://www.totalrl.com/homerl/
It would leave one SL team with a problem

| Whelan will want this at the DW, but would we as a club make anything more from a 25k crowd at DW or the same at Bolton or anywhere else as we are only hiring the facility for the match.
Which means that we can negotiate with Whelan as to the hire fee, beer and food receipts on the night, and / or strengthen guarantees about any Challenge Cup or Play Off games later in the season.
