| I think we do have what it takes - to make the GF. To win SL, I'm not too sure. I couldn't tell you why either, but I think it takes a monumental effort to make the GF and then to win it an even bigger effort.
I want to believe we can, and of course I'll still be shouting for us 100% of the way but I'm not too sure if we can win it this year or whether it's a year too early.
Oh how I would LOVE to be proved wrong

| the final is in just over 3 weeks time and it that time Saints and Wire will probably have to play each other twice. Now we all know how intense these games are and i wouldn't be surprised if the winner of them 2 has nothing left in the tank come GF day. Also remember that one of them will prob have to play Hull in between all that aswell. I can see Wire beating Saints but using that much emotion in beating them may cost them the GF. We all saw what happened after they came to our place and beat up our one man pack - they lost 2 in a row.

| Saints chances have increased ever so slightly with the addition of a 7 with a kicking game to cover injuries - Matty Smith back with Saints until the end of the season.

So what you're saying is, if you don't win it this year, you'll win it next year?
Theres no such thing as a year too early. You have to win grand finals when you get the chance.
You could lose to warrington in this years grand final then lose to them again next year.
You lost back to back grand finals in 00 and 01, saints have lost 3 grand finals on the trot to leeds.
Theres no such thing as a year too early, you have to win grand finals when you get the chance.

None of it has anything to do with bottling.
Warrington have beaten you this year, so have saints.
They could beat you in the grand final.
Just because you finish top doesn't automatically mean you're bottlers if you don't win the grand final.

they might mean they're bottlers in big games? few of the games we've lost have been 'big' games, Saints, Wire, Leeds (cup)

Not really.
You don't win grand finals on desire.
Saints will have been desperate last year after losing the past 2.
I'm inclined to think warrington and saints are more likely to put in ''the performance'' than wigan.
I don't know why either. Gut feeling.

The only game you've bottled in recent years is catalans semi.
Losing against evenly matched rivals is not bottling.

If we cut out our silly penalty's then we will win no problem stupid mistakes have lost us both those games.

I wouldn't go that far, but it'd be a start!

| Best quote on this topic:
"Losing to evenly matched rivals is NOT bottling"
which is exactly what has happened against Leeds, Saints & Wire this year.

That's a crazy thing to say.
Have you watched many grand finals?
Most are low in errors and penalties.
Both teams will want it just as much.
It comes down top who simply plays the best, if the games close, who will come up with the crucial game breaking plays at the right times?
I just think saints and wire are more likely to produce the game breaking plays than wigan. I don't know why. You'll obviously disagree.
Alot of wigans trys come from great team play but in grand finals defences tend to be tight and the trys come from individual skill, for me saints and wire are more likely to produce this.

All of them thanks and been watching Rugby League since 1962 thanks. I was pointing out the fact that in most games we have lost this year it was due to us giving away stupid penalty's and field position. If we tighten up our discipline we are more than a match for any team as we have proved over the season.
I think you will find that we can produce a few trys from individual brilliance.
For the record i have been to 8 Grand Finals and also put them on video/dvd and have been to every challenge cup final since 1980 apart from the last 2.
