Few teams wouldn't shift tickets for Wembley in a cup final. I don't see your point.

| Quote Dave T="Dave T"To be fair they made a bit of an effort for the last few years at Wilderspool, and the first few years at HJ.
It has generally been the last 18 months where the off-field stuff has become really poor.
There is no reason at all why we shouldn't be averaging 11kish.'"
you'd have to ask yourself how much is marketing, how many is it going to bring in, is it financially worth it ?
£17 a ticket getting in 3000 more fans brings in £51,000. How much would the marketing be ?

Surely its up to the clubs to find the most cost effective way of marketing things though, whether that be a special offer on season tickets (like we did last year with the free junior tickets), money off match day tickets or simply bombarding the town with posters and leaflets - there are so many different levels the marketing can be done at depending on what end results you want.
To an extent the top clubs will always sell themselves and get crowds of a certain size in with no advertising but if clubs want to push those boundaries they need to work to get as many extra people in and build the fan base for future years.

If it costs £51,000 pound it would be worth it!
If ony 10% of those fans come back on a recurring basis that's £5k in the bank EVERY other week from then on, plus merchandise & Other ancillaries.
That could clear 100k for the year recurring.
You can't expect to spend 10k on Marketting 1 week, bring in 3000 extra speccies and expect to keep those 3000 forever.
It needs to be a consistant, speculative, long term approach.

The point is if the glory hunters turned up more and not just when you play wigan or saints, semis etc then your crowds would probably be averaging 11k-ish like the poster said.

it's so much glory hunters, it's atmosphere or going with your mate who is also an away speccy that brings people in for the wire v wigan v saints matches. look at wire v saints games for example it brings loads of wire supporters out the woodwork but we go there and watch us get beat year after year, not exactly glory hunting is it ?
some people can't afford it or have different commitments in life so they prioritise the local derby matches as the ones they watch

We averaged 11k in 2005, and we never won anything then, so my claim that we should be averaging 11k had plenty of reasoning and truth in it, whereas yours was just a really poor trolling effort.

Wigan's marketing has been excellent this year. The Chief Exec, Mick Hogan, has even been on the phone selling tickets to fans. Not to mention the 'Big One' against Leeds and the north stand occupied by Heinz for the Quins game.
Warrington have a large fan base, it just needs really hitting hard with some good marketing campaigns.

Well done for averaging 11k 4 years ago - what's gone wrong then? Not enough big money signings As for trolling I'm a Wigan fan on a Wigan fans forum - I'll leave the trolling to the Wire fans who seem to be on here constantly.

The point of these forums is that it isn;t exclusive for Wigan fans, so if I want to come on here and discuss your averages, and compare and contrast them to my club, then I will do. No trolling, not from my side anyway.
