It's potentially a career-ending injury. Trumpeting a lack of sympathy is very uncharitable.
What McGuire did was immensely irritating, but it's not like he viciously or severely fouled somebody. He's not that kind of player, and I hope he makes a full recovery.
Wigan have won many friends this year - as was exemplified by the decent words expressed by lots of rival fans when Roberts got hurt. But some of these reactions are going to cost us.
Let's get some perspective. It's only a game.

| Some very bitter posts here.
He didn't get what he deserved. What he deserved for the offence he committed was a sin binning at most, and it was totally pointless giving him one at that stage of the game.
As has been said, if one of our players did the same in an exact reversal of roles I'd acknowledge he didn't act within the laws of the game, but I'd be bloody pleased they did it!
To take any satisfaction from the injury McGuire's picked up lacks any class at all.

Great post.
Lets be honest every club has their idiots and for some reason people like comparing them on here. Most RL fans are good people, i have met loads of top people at many different places.

| Some top class s on this thread, he pulled someone's shirt, it's not like he kicked a player on his knee's. Never thought I would read stuff like this from rl fans.

| Early in the second half Tommy had the chance to do the same to McGuire as he did to Carmont at the end. Tommy didn't and McGuire out-paced him to score. Alright it was earlier in the game; but saying that a Wigan player may have done the same given the opportunity doesn't make it any less cynical a professional foul.
At the time I thought he was play acting to avoid getting sin-binned (or worse considering how random halibut is); however I am sorry to hear that he will be out for so long. For a player whose game is based around elusiveness and pace it is a bad injury and it will take a long time for him to be back to where he was at the start of the game last night.
I would also add - that had it been Sam Tomkins that had pulled a Leeds player back in the same situation and we had won; then I am pretty sure that an equal number of Rhinos fans would be just as unsympathetic about the injury - especially considering the crowd reaction at Headingly when Ablett nearly decapitated him.
Anyone care to disagree?

| does no one else think that maybe the reason he pulled carmont back was because he felt his knee go and instinctively grabbed the nearest thing to try stop himself putting weight on it?

To wish injury on a player, no matter who they are, is wrong. We had it when Newton broke Long's face too.
Some rather disturbing comments from some fans on here. I wish him a speedy recovery.

| Perhaps some of the posters were at headingly and had to put up with the chimps tea party when smith scored, it does'nt exactly breed sympathy and respect. AND, they were at it again last night.

| Got to add, prior to Headingly I had NEVER seen any team perform like the leeds players did, they set the standard that day.
