I’d love for us to dangle the carrot of Lam taking over full time and see how the players react. Do they believe in his methods and do they want him to coach them long term? Looking at them so far you’d say no chance but with that uncertainty lifted or partially lifted, maybe they’ll rise to the chance of getting it settled longer term in Lams favour.
I have to say though I’m far from convinced but would love to be wrong.

Before Wane announced he was leaving i wanted him to go, I just felt we needed a different direction and style of play. Let's be honest, the rugby was very boring and predictable going forward. We started games like we were going to put 60 on them then let them back in nearly every time and used to win by a couple of try's. I was to see us start demolishing sides with no prospect of comebacks. His defence was second to none but wanted to see a team that performed all season not the last 5 games. When he announced he was leaving i was sad but still thought it was the best way to go. What we are seeing with Lam is still the same players who can't attack very well but seem to have lost the ability to defend too. You can't win matches without one or both of those things. Maybe the players just aren't good enough, maybe Lam's hands are tied regarding recruitment and he is stuck with an average squad with a couple of top players in it. Shaun Wane had a distinct ability to eek out every inch of effort in the team but now that shield has been taken away we are seeing the mentallity level from our squad. I said a couple of weeks ago that at some point the players have to take responsibility and a personal pride must kick in. They know they can do better but don't seem like they want to. Maybe Lam is too soft. Either way, scrap the Edwards thing. I couldn't care less if he is a legend or not. Not heard a squeak out of him for 20 years and now all this. Let him carry on in RU and never invite him back to the stadium again. The club and fans are far more important than a trouble making mickey pot from Standish. Move on. Get behind Lam.'"

Until the final pass for Yaha he was pretty good but not fantastic by any stretch. We could really do with him at seven alongside Hardaker and Williams but the club was never going to pay 300k a season to keep him as a game managing half and not the marauding, game changing full back he used to be.

I'd be surprised if Barratt was here as coach. Didn't he and IL have a fall out after a home loss to Hudds?
It would surprise me if Barratt coached here.

Just don't see lam as long term. Really hope he can turn things around but we are a mess. Too many team changes and probably changed too much too soon. I don't like how he puts the blame on players after games. That should be kept in the dressing room.
Don't get me wrong would love him to turn it around but so far not even a flicker of a thinker or an innovator. If we get spanked by Salford which is a distinct possibility then I'd say if SE doesn't come the club will get shut pretty quickly

He knows he can change his mind and tout his services about because he doesn't have the contract the club claimed he signed. One of the reasons he said he would only take over for 2020 was that he was under contract with Wales and wouldn't break it. It would be infinitely harder to be in this mess both from Edwards side and any RU club/nation wanting him now had he signed a contract. |

As an outsider it looks like Edwards has pooped on Wigan from a great height. Naive of IL not to have a signed contract but Edwards wasn’t blackmailed into giving “that” video.
I’m guessing there will be no Cunningham style statue for him. Having said all that I was never sure why you would want a coach who had been out of the game for so long and had never coached a pro RL team.
