| Quote: Bigredwarrior "Perfectly summed up. The fact the contract wasn’t signed is not the club’s doing. In hindsight the wording of the press release is the only thing that wasn’t right but free club had no reason to believe SE would go back on the agreed terms.'"
I think you mean lying in the press release.
Still no contrition or apology for lying to the fans. If the club said we were playing St Helens on Good Friday I'd want to double check from now on.

IL is a millionaire business man.
You don't attain wealth like his by telling the truth all of the time.
His credibility and integrity has been exposed - again !

| Quote: Big Steve "IL has known Edwards for years.
SE agreed to a 3 year contract,
SE said leave the details until after the 6 nations as i don't want to be distracted.
IL took the man hes known for years word on the matter.
They agreed to do press conferences about it.
The only thing IL did wrong was to say 'signed 'rather than 'agreed'. Why would he intentionally mislead anyone on this point. He had an agreement with someone he's known for years. They both agreed to announce it.
If IL had kept everyone in the dark until after the 6 nations when they were due to finalise the contract, everyone would have been up in arms wondering what's going on and blaming IL for having no plan or not communicating with the fans.
SE has been very disengenious saying he hasn't got a contract and will be unemployed after the world Cup. Hes the one who should be getting the flak.'"
Who has told you all of this ? how can it be proved ? as I have said before without a a signed contract SE cannot be in breach, morals dont come into it.
IL is the captain of the ship and the buck stops with him.

It would also mean we would be due some sort of compensation that at the moment we aren't. It would have seriously restricted the omnishamble that is currently happening.
It would also have meant the club didn't lie to the fans.'"
We (Lenagan) would receive a minor sum to release Edwards from his contract.
So we'd be in the same boat.
He doesn't want to be here. End of story.

So you're saying, Edwards agreed to be Wigan coach, in July/start of August, but didnt want to discuss pay or sign a contract till after he finished a tournament that starts in February the year after? That finishes middle/end of march?
If you believe that I've got some nice beachfront property I'm looking to sell.

| The terms were fully agreed and Edwards was pleased to parade in front of the world’s press saying he’s the new coach.
The contract wasn’t signed due to some unusual intracies on Edwards part that the club were still working through. He orchestrated the press release to say he hasn’t signed, purely because he saw his stock rise. What he failed to say was that he hasn’t physically signed the contract because of his unusual requests that IL was still trying hard to resolve.

I hear that some HMRC checks had to be carried out due to a request by SE which shouldn't take 9 months.
The whole episode is a bit of a fiasco with neither party looking good.
I'd rather kick on and forget SE and look for a replacement Asap

It may not have taken 9 months but he asked not to be disturbed during the 6 nations. The truth is we know that the deal was sorted and in place but that Edwards has done the dirty on the club.
I agree though, move on and pin Lammy down long term. Give him time to implement his philosophy and some players who can deliver it. We’ll be fine.

| I’d love for us to dangle the carrot of Lam taking over full time and see how the players react. Do they believe in his methods and do they want him to coach them long term? Looking at them so far you’d say no chance but with that uncertainty lifted or partially lifted, maybe they’ll rise to the chance of getting it settled longer term in Lams favour.
I have to say though I’m far from convinced but would love to be wrong.

| Quote: Cherry_Warrior "Watching Tomkins' performances so far for Catalans makes me even more sure than moving him on and Hardaker signing was deffo an upgrade. Hardaker has been good in a poor team and will only get better, he is still finding his feet. I don't want Lam to go (yet) all of me is willing him to turn it around but his excuses are contradictory and baffling. He needs to put his finger on the button fast. Before Wane announced he was leaving i wanted him to go, I just felt we needed a different direction and style of play. Let's be honest, the rugby was very boring and predictable going forward. We started games like we were going to put 60 on them then let them back in nearly every time and used to win by a couple of try's. I was to see us start demolishing sides with no prospect of comebacks. His defence was second to none but wanted to see a team that performed all season not the last 5 games. When he announced he was leaving i was sad but still thought it was the best way to go. What we are seeing with Lam is still the same players who can't attack very well but seem to have lost the ability to defend too. You can't win matches without one or both of those things. Maybe the players just aren't good enough, maybe Lam's hands are tied regarding recruitment and he is stuck with an average squad with a couple of top players in it. Shaun Wane had a distinct ability to eek out every inch of effort in the team but now that shield has been taken away we are seeing the mentallity level from our squad. I said a couple of weeks ago that at some point the players have to take responsibility and a personal pride must kick in. They know they can do better but don't seem like they want to. Maybe Lam is too soft. Either way, scrap the Edwards thing. I couldn't care less if he is a legend or not. Not heard a squeak out of him for 20 years and now all this. Let him carry on in RU and never invite him back to the stadium again. The club and fans are far more important than a trouble making mickey pot from Standish. Move on. Get behind Lam.'"
Another master class in defence and attack tonight from Tomkins.

| Until the final pass for Yaha he was pretty good but not fantastic by any stretch. We could really do with him at seven alongside Hardaker and Williams but the club was never going to pay 300k a season to keep him as a game managing half and not the marauding, game changing full back he used to be.

| There is no way on this earth Shaun Edwards would have done the press conference at Wigan last August had he not already agreed length and terms of contract .
