Do you go to the matches?'"
No longer buy a season ticket because of my age and health.
Yes, but only when I feel well enough to attend a game, which these days is confine just to home games.
Oh, and when you have been to as many matches and places to support the club over a period of fifty years in addition to the many other non Wigan games, then you can have a pop at older loyal supporters like myself.
Untill you reach the same age and level of health, I suggest you keep your opinion of others peoples supportt to yourself!

A simple no would have been enough.
And for the record can you please show me where I have had a pop at you or any of the other older supporters?
And i will continue to have my opinion as and when I want it, Like everyone else on here.
Fortunately for some the content is not examined before being approved. As some of the tripe would not be published.

No. St Helens win trophies and rack up points.
Warrington averaged 28 points per game and won 15 out of 21 games. Wigan averaged 15.48 per game - the lowest in SL. Even Leigh averaged more.
Dull rugby = stayaway fans.
Winning & entertaining rugby = increase in fans.

Oh right
So when Wigan were winning World club challenges and grand finals, averaged more points per game than Saints or Warrington and better defence and the crowds went down what was the excuse then?
See, you can dress it up any which you want, justify stay away fans whichever way you want, blame x,y or z
Truth is this
There are too many Wigan fans bitching and moaning about anything they can, making up excuses why they shouldn't go, justifying their reason for not spending £20 every other week on the club on anything they can. Yet put hours and hours of effort I to slagging the club off when the slightest thing goes wrong.
Back on point
Wigans prices are better in most areas tha anything any equivalent clubs have to offer.
If people still don't want to buy them then so be it

You are indeed correct about the prices for this season being a bargain, but anyone who visits this website will get a impression that you are in some way connected with the club with the way you constantly defend it and IL/KR.
Are you saying that you are happy with everything at the club these days as I can assure you that ther are many Wigan supporters who are far from happy, with for example, the lack of news coming out of the club since the appoinment of the new coaching set up.
If the club wants to have increased season ticket sales, they need to give supporters some incentives that things are going to be better next season and not just rely on a idea that supporters will buy a season ticket, no matter what, as those days have gone,
Oh, and I think you will find that some supporters if they are anything like I have been over the years in my support of the club have spent a damm sight more than just £20 on home games.
Been a bone of contention over the years by my Wife about the amount of money and time that I have spent supporting the club.

He has no connection with the club apart from being a supporter.

I will defend people when wrong impressions are given about them
People 6/7 years ago said they wouldn't go why shaun Wane was in charge, he leaves they still dont come
Etc etc etc
I won't buy a season ticket until "insert random excuse", and yet "excuse removed/changed" and still don't come
The person I responded to gave reasons people won't buy ST'S yet those reasons don't stand up when scrutinised
Other posters have basically said we should charge a price that imo is practically giving them away. Yet ignores that other clubs prices are the same or higher. I get the price for New season ticket holders who wait until last minute is high, same as other clubs, but there will only be a small % who do that, most will go early/renewal prices etc.
But the point is, giving them away solves nothing. It doesn't stand up to financial scrutiny
People complaining about the marketing, I kind of get that, but I don't see a massive amount of difference from other clubs. But please don't tell me that people don't know ST'S are on ae, the people on Facebook on the release of ST thread moaning they didn't get a letter!!!!
The club can do things better, however even things they are doing well or decent on they get ripped to shreds by people who have no other intention than to moan never mind buy tickets.
Nostalgia eh
It's not what it used to be
Numerous threads facts, counter evidence has been provided and the people who start those negative threads walk away and don't respond
Much easier to just enter an echo chamber of negativity an all follow.
Suggestion
Try a few Steven Pinker books - it may explain a few things

Oh Yeah
And I think what you were meant to say was that I was right about the prices and left it at that?
Or maybe have a go at the people who were having a go at the club
Rather than finding it strange that someone would defend the club they support over something they are actually right and very good on.

| Ok, so what would [sizeYOU [/sizedo to get the missing 6000 ST holders to shell out just under £300 for 13 home* games next season
(* = subject to the Arab bloke not locking us out of the DW and we end up playing a home fixture in Widnes/London/Australia)

Well for a start - I think it's a bit disingenuous to say 6000 are missing for 2 reasons.
I think the figure in 2019 was around 8000 ST's maybe just over??? Not sure what it was for 2020 bit don't think it was anything like10k??? with over 4K renewing last year (After Covid & pre anyone knowing what was happening with Covid in 2021 it was only to be expected) But I reckon there may be 4k ish who didn't renew not 6k
Secondly, Not all those people will be paying Just under £300 for 13 Home games
There will be people who have had the chance to take up early bird giving prices from £0 for under 7s to £260 for Full Adult (And prices between £42 for 17 and unders to around £180 for Young adults up to 24 & OAP's (From 60)
Ridiculously Good pricing from Wigan
The stadium situation is neither here nor there - unless people want to live their lives based on Rumours and worst case scenario which believe it or not IMO most people don't (And I guess this is my point, people are catastrophising situations, worst case scenarios, spreading bad terrible news without giving any balance to the good stuff)
If i'm honest (Which I always am, just a figure of speech) the answer is Marketing which I Don't have a Big view on. I get my tickets and what influences others doesn't influence me.
But I'll take your word and others that say Wigan's Marketing is Rubbish, so that needs to be better.
The prices ARE NOT the problem

There's no way to recover the missing 6k support in one season, just like it's been a steady decline for 5-6 years to where we are now it would take a number of years to bring us back to anywhere where we used to be.
First things first is to stop that decline where the club can, that's priority. I believe they are recruiting a new marketing manager (or recently have done). There's lots to be done believe me but its possible the club can definitely attract new young support over the next few years as well as tempting back supporters that have been missing for a few years. Obviously playing attractive rugby and winning games helps this.

| I was a season ticket holder from circa 2004 to 2017.
I could probably count the number of games I’ve attended in the last 3 years or so. No single reason for that. A mix of life moving on and Wigan/rugby becoming less/not appealing to me and my close family (5 or 6 of us have all sloped away in recent years). It’s by no means all Wigan Rugby Clubs fault.
However…
As a season ticket holder for a number of years - probably up to around the point that attendances started to decline - I do find it surprising that the club don’t make much effort to either
A) attract me/us back (I mean by way of email or traditional post marketing
or
B) canvass previous season ticket holders (or regular match day attendees) on their thoughts and opinions as to why we no longer go and therefore gain an understanding of attracting back that ‘warm’ sale.
I’m not saying I’d have an awful lot to say myself, becuase as I say, I view it that my life has moved on and I no longer have much interest in spending my money on the club/sport v’s other things.
But some of the family I mention might do. And I know a good 5 or so other families or groups of friends who went around the days we did, who no longer do, who’d have a thing or two to offer.
Just a thought.

very much in the same boat / thought process
i had season ticket until 2020 season, when i knew i had something else on and would either not attend any / many games, so decided that the money would be better spent on the challenge i had set that summer. For the previous 2 seasons i reckon i could count the number of games i attended on one hand each season, so my enjoyment was already diminishing. Roll on covid etc, and i atteneded 2 home games v Saints and Leeds last season (couldnt have picked 2 worse games to attend) with zero desire, attacking rugby, flair or anything on show to make me want to buy another season ticket. As it happens, the event i was training for in 2020 got pushed back to 2021, and i didnt complete it so and doing it again next year, and the training has already started for it, so i will poss pick a couple of games to attend late summer.
as with many things i attended with my dad, eldest daughter and took a couple of her friends. The girls got into exams, university etc, so drifted away. My daughter loves rugby league, and i am hoping that she'll get back into it, if she moves back home (really hope she doesnt become a dirty leeds fan ). If she does, that may be the trigger for me getting myself back into going to home and away games every weekend again, but i just dont know at this moment in time
as you mentioned, i havent been contacted to ask why i wasnt renewing or any marketing to me directly saying as an (ex) loyal fan why not invest in a season ticket for 2022. i appreciate that there is stuff but onto social media / club website (assuming thats been updated), but for fans that drift away, sometimes a little thing can be the difference between doing nothing or actually getting us back to the games. Our names are in the database, so why not send an email with season ticket details on to us directly and see if it tempts any back?
