| Quote: post "The whole identity politics quagmire is one I don't fancy getting in to, because no matter what you say to challenge a certain view or point, there is a term used against you which shuts down the argument. From my view if some reasonable person starts asking questions with a genuine curiosity because they're labelled a gammon, or a Karen, or a moron.
Its such a divisive and sensitive issue that separates people and sets them to argue, and this is why politics and sport shouldn't mix.'"
There is nothing political about taking a knee to highlight racism.

| When sporting idols like Anthony Joshua make statements on a microphone in the street to thousands of protesters saying 'Hit them (white people) where it hurts, invest only in black business and boycott their (white people's) shops' then it becomes more about simply showing solidarity. It has gone way too far now and has massively split opinions, just read through the pages on this thread. I can't support a political movement that wants to actively abolish the police force. It's ridiculous.

Abolishing the police is nuts. Reforming it isn't. I dont support the political movement either. Its obviously been corrupted and seized upon by people who aren't looking for equality. But I do support a players right to take a knee before a game. Especially when those players have openly said its not about politics, its about what they and their teammates have personally endured. Sky politicise it and call it a movement. The players themselves just want to say enough is enough

Why should Wigan RFLC players do a gesture on the pitch before a game to signify their support of a movement that says that our Police Force (Not service, which is the best in the World) is institutionally racist and seeks to defund it? How about the players do whatever political stance in their own time and leave it out of sport.

My natural inclination was to support black lives matter but once I went on their website it became obvious that they are a communist organisation- end to capitalism, end to nuclear family, abolish police etc. I detest communism and far right politics for me 2 cheeks of the same harris.

Racism? I hope these acts of racism were reported to the Police because there are laws already in place against racism. Certain occurrences can be labelled 'Hate Crimes' if they are committed against a person because of the colour of their skin and dealt with accordingly.

If you don't bother to go to the game when you live in the locality then you are not really a fan and therefore your views are invalid. It's simple.:icons39ad_files/4821-1859san_c-msnicons.jpg |

They are marxists, but let's not split hairs......
Oh, i did. There is no doubt that the problems of inequality are a long long way from being solved. But you always have to be careful just who are using genuine issues to further their own, separate, issues...
The sport/politics crossover can have massive benefits when used effectively. It's very sad when others get onto any bandwagon to press their own agenda

Anything could be classified as a hate crime, for example I could call you a “white idiot” and if you are harassed/alarmed/distressed and believe it be as because of your race (white) it’s classified as a hate crime. Anyone can perceive an incident as a hate incident, they don’t necessarily have to be the victim. It’s a minefield.
Re BLM; I’m all for eradicating any form of racism from society. There is absolutely no place for it anywhere in the world in any walk of life, I find it utterly deplorable and I fully expect any SL player/coach who didn’t take the knee to have the same opinion. You don’t have to take the knee to be anti racist, you don’t have to back BLM to be anti racist either. I’ve read and listened to [isome[/i BLM members and it truly is horrifying what they’re saying or doing. Full serials of people in stab vests marching (poorly) like they’re a military unit or a police public order unit. Calling for the abolishment of the police, triggering at every stop of a BAME person irrespective of the result or cause.
If black lives truly mattered where is the outrage at the indefensible abhorrent black murders in London? Why are they not calling out the gangs? Marching against gang violence? Working with authorities to eradicate it from our streets? And whilst I know there have been marches against it by victims families and friends, It seems to be extremely selective to me. Happy to be shown to be wrong.
Black lives matter, of course they do but I feel the meaning has been lost. Originally it was to highlight the struggles, lack of opportunity, law enforcement targeting of the BAME community (the latter far more prevalent in the USA than UK) until it took on this far, far left meaning.
For the record, I’m a left leaning Labour voter and member. But the actions of some Labour MP’s make me question my political loyalty. Luckily I won’t vote Tory as long as there’s a hole in my back side.
Nb. I don’t particularly care for what political party you vote for or your views on BLM. As long as you’re not a racist buffoon I won’t be calling you out.

Why? Posters need to stick to the topic which is Brian Carney and Sky's treatment of Folau.

I reckon he offered his opinion and got a ticking off for it so kept quiet thereafter.
